Hi everyone, at around 7pm on Sunday we had a call over our intercom system saying that we should prepare to evacuate. The Environment Agency were expecting the Mersey to flood in our area.
Hubby and I decided to prepare to stay! We aren't on the ground floor and anyway there is a slope up to our complex. We charged up our two daylight lamps and got the flasks and hot drink mugs ready. We also charged up the phones and one of the tablets.
By the time the call came we were actually given the choice to stay, with the warning that services may be cut.
As it happened although the Mersey did break it's banks in some areas it wasn't as bad as expected as some of the river water was taken off the river onto a nearby golf course...and Fletcher Moss gardens!!!
On Monday we had to go to the post box so decided to walk back by the river.
We didn't walk beyond the old inn as we had seen the road was blocked by debris on TV in the morning - quite a shock to see one of our favourite walks in such state!
This morning we went shopping - we were going to drive past Fletcher Moss but decided to go and take a look as this too had featured on TV.
Once in the supermarket car park we walked to one of our favourite cafes Delice de France - and it is here I will join Bleubeard and Elizabeth at the Altered Book Lover for T Stands For Tuesday.

I'm glad you didn't have any damage Chris and that you didn't need to evacuate. Flooding is scary, especially when roads get closed. You can see at the gardens how much water they got. Wow. Hopefully that will drain soon. Sounds like life has been adventurous, but not in a way you might wish it was. Happy T day Chris. And stay safe too. hugs-Erika
wow so much damage from the rains and flooding! Glad it worked out for you in your choice to stay. As you said- it wasn't like you were on the first level. Sad to see how so much is washed away and debris is all over the walking areas. Hopefully it won't take too long to clean up. Nice you could stop for a lovely little drink and snack before heading out for your long drive home. Hope the rest of your week is a good one, and wishing you happy T day too!

Good to hear that you were safe and not flooded out. Although the big story in the papers here is the Ukraine war, we’ve heard about the terrible storms in your part of the world, and I was hoping everyone would do well. My close friend near London (someone I know face to face) tied down all her garden stuff, and came through ok too, though a few bits of debris landed in her property. So I hope all is well with everyone I know in reality or online.

Glad you were able to stay put -Kew lost about 20 trees on Friday (they stayed closed for the day) and it was very sad to see the damage. Hopefully the gardens will dry out quickly.
I'm glad that you didn't have to evacuate and you are safe. You sure had quite some flooding! Hopefully you are done for now with all those storms that you had recently.

Wow - a lot of water and flooding, Chris. Glad you were safe and it worked out for you. Very sad to see some of those people places under water. We have to make the choice to leave or stay in some storms (lots of tornadoes here) and the choice is hard sometimes. The coffees look good. Happy T-day and Hugz

Wow, that is a lot of flooding! It was very bad in the Netherlands too according to my family. I'm so glad you didn't have to evacuate in the end.
I hope your favorite park dries out soon and that there is not much lasting damage.

It's wonderful you didn't have to evacuate and you didn't sustain any damage. I realize your home isn't on the ground floor, but I suspect your car is. It's good that your car didn't flood.
That river is incredible and Fletcher Moss looks beaten up. Your trip home was scary with those photos of all that water in the road.
