There once was....

.........a blog called Empire Of The Cat, owned by Elle, today she is our new host at Art Journal Journey with her fabulous theme of - Tell Me A Story.

First of all a big 'Thank you' to Neet, for hosting last month.

I love traditional stories and Hans Christian Anderson's stories were always a favourite when I was a child. I was old enough(just) to go an see the film of his life. One of the songs I remember the star Danny Kaye singing was the Ugly Duckling.

I assembled some papers I wanted to use but the only duckling I could find was more like a growing cygnet than a baby so I had to go to the Internet for that.

I used my Kraft journal and added some texture paste mixed with white paint through a stencil.

Papers were arranged on the page and I popped in an AAll and Create die cut.

The main image is from a Ciaobella Christmas set. I added more texture paste/paint over the edge of the frame on the left.

The words are from the Ugly Duckling song and were made on Printshop.

There are so many traditional stories and I look forward to seeing your choice!

Thanks for looking, Chris

This is a wonderful first entry, Chris. Your little duckling sure turned into a beautiful swam. I think a lot of us will be looking to Hans Christian Anderson this month. Thanks for sharing this tale with us at Art Journal Journey using Elle's theme.

Beautiful page, Chris. I read this story when I was small and wanted to turn into a swan, too. It didn't happen! Hugs, Valerie

What a stunning page! I loved Hans Christian Andersen stories and the Danny Kaye film was a favourite of mine growing up, so your page evokes all sorts of happy memories 😊. Your design and interpretation is perfect. Happy October! Hugs Jo x

Wow Chris, this page is just gorgeous. I also had a book of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales as a child, and this was one of my favorites. I wish I still had it so I could read a few. Smile. I love how your page stuck with the kraft background and all the tans and whites. It's so pretty, and what a great way to start the new month. Happy October. Hugs-Erika

A lovely page. I enjoyed Danny Kaye in that movie and all the songs he sang.

I loved that film and remember the little boy with no hair who had the song 'The Ugly Duckling' centred around him. What a great Actor Danny Kaye was in that film, such an entertainer in every way.
Your page makes me feel good and I love white on kraft so everything about this page gets a big gold star from me.
Hugs, Neet xx
