T Stands for - The Arty Bits

Hi everyone, last week was a quieter week which ended with us having our Covid boosters - sore arms and a little bit tired but feeling much better now.

I had a choice today, pics of our two outings are ready but they will be part of another post later this week.

I will continue with our trip to France.

While we were with our friends it was Patromoine weekend (you may remember that last year we were in Paris for this special time when museums are either free or special events celebrating France's heritage are staged.)

We found that there was a free taster concert for something being performed at the weekend so we went off to La Roche-Posay (you may know this name from some skin products - they are made with Spring water from the town)

We went to the Donjon where there was a video show of the area and the history of the Donjon

The other fascinating this in this room was the whispering corners - you could stand across the room from your partner face the corner and whisper and even though others were talking you could hear each other whispering.
Much fun was had by us, our friends and another couple!

The ground floor of the Donjon is often used for concerts but this concert we were going to watch was in the Town square.
We took a walk down to the river

The town was full of hidden gems

The little church had the most beautiful windows

It was time for the concert

The event was called Monsieur Hayden Takes A Holiday.
Most of the acts were musical - some very good! One act was very strange - a guy doing a monologue - most of which we understood - but was about Chopin - in a boat!!!
It was extended  by a compère who liked the limelight!!
All was enjoyable though!

The next morning hubby and I went out on our own again-our friends needed to start to get ready for their own trip away.
We went to Fontenay le Compte. We loved this little town.

The biggest treat was the organist and a singer were rehearsing for a Patrimoine event here

Our drink came, as usual in France, in glass bottles

It was soon time to leave. We had spotted a sign as we drove to Fontenay le Compte - thought you might like to see, as we drove home the same way - the line over the name means we had just driven through the village.

As you may see from the photos were blessed with some sunny days.

Thanks for looking, Chris

Ooops, nearly forgot again...Thanks to everyone who contributed to Elizabeths napkin swap - I was delighted to receive these...
...not long after our return home.
You may have already seen the top one on a recent journal page.

You have so many wonderful photos today Chris. How fun to see a concert at the town square, and also to see all the wonderful architecture. What a pretty town. I'm ready for another trip, and perhaps it is time to return to France after seeing all these photos. I hope all is well with you, and that you weren't too sore or tired from your boosters. hugs-Erika

I'm with Kate The stained glass windows were my favorite, but I also liked the views from the river and bridge. I have heard of the whispering corners. They have one in New York City, I think. I sure enjoyed seeing these towns through your eyes and camera lens.

Nice to see your glasses matched the drinks you chose. That is quite clever advertising. Thanks for sharing more of France and your drinks with us for T this Tuesday, dear Chris.

I am glad you liked the napkins. I also hope you noticed the bird postage stamps, too.

Lovely photos as always. We also had gotten our third boosters a couple of weeks ago. It didn't bother hubby at all, but my arm was sore. The shots, just like the virus seems to affect everyone differently. Thanks for your visit, Chris. Happy T Day.

Lovely photos the towns are so quaint. I was fascinated by the whispering corners. It reminded me of my brother and I whispering into the heating duct from our rooms to talk to each other. Happy T Day
