T Stands for.....time flying and the last day in Vienna

Hi everyone, is it just me or is time flying? We had some relaxing time at our caravan at the weekend and we are heading to York for a couple of nights away in a hotel towards the weekend. I have been told that York Christmas Market is one of the best.

We had quite a leisurely last day in Vienna.
We managed to get into the church we had seen on our first day...just around the corner from our hotel

Then we went for a walk to find..Cafe Central..here is a link so that you can find out more about the famous visitors this cafe has had!
There was a short queue to get in!
This chap had clearly had to sit down....
......so did this one after a short wait!
We shared this wonderful patisserie, hubby had hot chocolate and I had a cappuccino. The waiter was lovely and as he passed by on one occasion joked about hubby eating more than me!

We didn't read any of the newspapers provided.
 Next, some cake art!!!

We really enjoyed some time to sit as it was really hot outside!
Next we walked around the area, mainly in the shade.
I loved this church.....

...and this one.
 Very ornate..
...but I am always thrilled to find old wall paintings

It was soon time for lunch! We were close to the Royal Palace and entered from the square into the Hofburg cafe.
A double treat for T Day, where I am joining Elizabeth and Bleubeard.

We both ordered the same drink but I don't recall whether it was a Mocha or a hot chocolate - lunch was a sandwich with fries!

I resisted the Kaiserschmarrn on this occasion
Did hubby have a delicious dessert from the cabinet?
I think he wanted to...but no!!!
I was sorry we couldn't eat in this part but it was being set up for a party!

We were going to visit the Sisi museum but I decided I would like to know more about her first...so maybe next time. For now I have brought a book back to read!
The area around the palace is beautiful

St Stephens was beautiful too but I was too hot to take anymore photos and I think maybe hubby was too too as not many turned out well!

Finally we walked back towards the hotel passing some beautiful artwork.

Next time we will be heading to Prague!

Thanks for looking, Chris

The churches are breath-taking! I imagine it takes a lot of attention to maintain pieces like the wall art. It's no wonder people are willing to stand in line to be seated in that cafe, and all the pastry cases in both cafes have my mouth watering :) Happy T Tuesday

I don't know where to start.... cakes maybe! So beautiful, and I bet delicious too. The churches ... stunning.. Vienna is certainly beautiful.

hope you enjoy the York Christmas market - and are good with crowds. The year I went, it was absolutely heaving and you could barely move let alone get into to see the stalls... so good luck!!

I always feel as though I am traveling with you from your beautiful photos! Those churches sure do not disappoint and I am so glad that you took the time to go back to that first one. The cake art at that cafe is so yummy and is making my mouth water. Hot chocolate and pastries sound like the perfect way to pass the time while traveling.
i look forward to Prague!
Happy Tea Day,

I really really loved the churches-thanks so much for sharing those.
The food looks so delicious and those cakes-wow!! good thing I wouldn't be able to eat those (not gluten free) or I would have a difficult time choosing. I would love one of those hot chocolates though-I love how fun your husband is in the photos-he is a patient man for letting you take photos-hugs
thanks for sharing your travel adventures I really enjoy them

Wonderful photos Chris. It really looks a beautiful city to visit.
Of all the photos I was drawn to look twice at those delicious cakes, it must have been hard to choose which one to order.
Enjoy your visit to York.
Happy T day wishes.

oh so much beauty to take in here Chris!! I am in love with those glorious churches- inside and out!!!The architecture is just astounding. The pastries and cakes are just divine in Europe aren't they? I'd so be in trouble there if I stayed too long:)Even your drinks are extra special.Love the comparison photos of the sculpture of the sitting man and your hubby-too funny:):)
Thanks so much for sharing your grand adventures - I love it all!! Happy T day!

Wow, that's some list of historic figures who frequented the Café Central - Sigmund Freud and the troika of Stalin, Hitler, and Trotsky! I wonder how it felt to sit in the same room they had? The place looks lovely and your dessert - oh my! How did you choose only one?

Ha - hubby turned the camera on you. I bet he said something like, It's about time ..."

Thank you for some beautiful photos of Vienna.

Happy T-day! Eileen xoxo

Those churches were incredible. All that gold and wealth. They are certainly over the top, and I can see why you love visiting churches.

I'm surprised CJ didn't call the cake art "cake porn." I was drooling, and I think T was, too. Those drinks alone were enough to give me a sugar rush. They looked unbelievable, extravagant, and extremely fattening.

Thanks for sharing these incredible photos of churches and cafes you experienced on your last day in Vienna, as well as your chocolate drink with us for T this Tuesday. And thank you (and T) for your well wishes for Thanksgiving.

Those pastries look delicious. I would have to try a few if I was there. (smile) I also love the ancient painting in the church. What a cool trip you had. Have a wonderful few days in York and I hope the Christmas market is as good as you heard. And happy a bit late T day. hugs-Erika

Oh boy! What a beautiful city! It makes me want to go to Vienna. The churches are all very barok but beautiful. I had heard of the pastries and the cafes but this exceeds all my expectations. It really was pastry art. Paul Hollywood eat your heart out! The churches are magnificent. Look at that roof on that last church! Wow!
Thank you so much for taking us to Vienna. Looking forward to seeing Prague. (Have you gone yet? Or is it on your wish list?)
Happy belated T-Day,
Lisca

Such beautiful impression dear Chris! And you were so lucky with the weather!
I was in Vienna to meet up with a friend on Tuesday and it did unfortunatley rain half of the day and was extremely cold.
We managed a little walk through the ccity and the Christkindlmarket.
Two exhibitons we wanted to see were unfortunately closed because of too many visitors...

You were really lucky !

Big hugs and happy week my friend!
