T Stands For - Treats in Paris and a little tweeting!

Hi everyone, I have no idea why some blogs allow me to comment and not others, I'll keep on trying!

First I have a page for Art Journal Journey where Matilde is hosting with her 'Birds' theme.

There's a little bit of stencilling here (and a reminder that TIOT's Stencils theme still has another week before it closes)I used some old gel prints and some spattering to create a background for the bird who is perched on a piece of chocolate wrapper and a scrap of Dina Wakley paper.

Paris

Last week I mis-led you slightly - we didn't queue at any of the big museums but headed for one that we have been meaning to visit for a while. We had walked on towards our destination but couldn't resist a proper look in here. We have walked past this little square so many times!

As you can see it is close to the Seine and has a view of Notre Dame Cathedral.

We walked past the queue waiting to go into the famous 'Shakespeare and Company' book shop..and then another treat - Sunday in Paris always involves skating...this time on the bridge leading to Isle St Louis.

We came to another church and I felt compelled to go in - once in I found out why. It was the most peaceful place, chants playing and a central area where nuns and others went to kneel and pray - I found a suitable chair, as did a few others -it wasn't a service just come and go as you felt.
The light streaming in the through the windows just added to the calm atmosphere.

We moved on...

to Musée Carnavalet - it has exhibits on the history of Paris and is one of the most interesting we have been to! We will be going back here on a less crowded day on a future trip to Paris

The map shows how Paris grew!

We went out into the courtyard....

....we had passed this harpist on our way into the museum and were able to listen to more of his music while walking around the garden

This part of the exhibition interested me most with lots of old photos of areas we know well.

Now, we were on our way to our final treat of the day

I am ready to show you another part of Samaritaine (we did try to get back into the restaurant we went to last September but they had stopped serving early) OYA in their other building was open - it's a coffee and dessert place!

Hubby did help me out with mine.
A last final surprise treat from the Metro window on Line 6 on the way back to our hotel

Sorry, but I think I have rambled a bit, I hope you made it to the end!

Thanks for looking, Chris

The Carnavalet is definitely a favorite -- I think it was being renovated on my most recent visit so I did not visit. I love the memorabilia from the great writers, especially Proust's bedroom, where he wrote his famous books.

I'm horrified to hear about how crowded you found all the museums. I know that's part of modern life, but it makes me sad, and also apprehensive that I won't be able to visit as easily as in the past.

PS -- I hope your problems with commenting are soon over. I've also experienced some challenges with comments, more on the iPad than on the laptop.

Wow! This is a wonderful post. I love seeing all the photos and the skaters, how fun. Great photos you the two of you too. What a lovely place to eat.

Your journal page is wonderful. I love the layering and the recycled candy wrapper you used to create this lovely bird inspired art. Thanks for sharing it with us at Art Journal Journey and Matilde's theme.

I really enjoyed this latest set of photos. I was most intrigued by Notre Dame Cathedral and whether the restoration was on track. I also enjoyed seeing the skaters, but that Cathedral was out of this world.

I loved the photos you shared from the museum. I enjoyed seeing how Paris had grown and many of the incredible art pieces there.

I enjoyed seeing your dessert and that beautiful coffee pot and creamer. Lovely details. You look like you have lost weight. You definitely were deserving of that incredible dessert. Glad T was good enough to help eat some of it, too.

Thanks for sharing your wonderful day, the Cathedral, the museum, and your drinks and desserts with us for T this Tuesday, dear Chris (T, too).

As you know, I also have had trouble leaving comments on some blogs. No rhyme or reason, either.

Glorious photos from Paris as usual! I would love to tag along one time, you know some wonderful off the beaten track places and sights! I saw that bookshop on a tv programme about Paris recently, had never heard of it before.
Great journal page!! Had to go back and look again as I was enjoying Paris so much! Helen

This is such a wonderful post Chris. I am loving your bird page for Matilde's challenge. And then I am loving this week's Paris walk. Aren't unexpected discoveries always the best? That church looks lovely as do the stained windows. And I must say you picked a great museum. Those are fantastic posters. And your two last looks, that delicious looking dessert and the view from the Metro are also very fun. Thanks for sharing, and I hope you are having a wonderful week. Hope your commenting gets fixed. hugs-Erika

SO many wonderful places, Chris! I enjoyed reading about each one. Chants are one of my favorite things to listen to when I am stressed or in a bad mood so I can imagine that is a lovely thing to hear coming from a beautiful old church. The stained glass is a work of art.
I also loved seeing all those art deco pieces at the museum. Very famous works that must have been awesome to see in person.
That dessert is exactly what I would have pictured from a dessert place in Paris. Cream and berries are the perfect dessert combination in my opinion.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate

Such a beautiful page! The bird looks amazing against your layered background and the colours are gorgeous 😀. I so enjoyed seeing Paris with its wonderful architecture and those street performers looked fun. The stainless windows are breathtaking and the French patisseries are a must, I always have to drag my hubby away as he'd stop at every one if he could - so delicious (smile!). Happy T Day! Hugs Jo x

I certainly made it to the end and thoroughly enjoyed my hidden corners of Paris that you took me to. A fabulous account, as always, of the Paris you find and show to us.
Your bird composition in your journal is lovely and the thrush looks ever so proud and grand against that delightful background of torn papers. Love the subtle stencilling.
Hugs, Neet xx
