When I am in my craft room I usually have some music on - a real eclectic mix from tango through folk to musicals- and lots of others in between! I have always been an REM fan so they are on there too.
I had the journal page that I had used up the excess paint on still on my desk. We have had a few appointments to keep so hadn't really tidied anything away! The second song playing gave me an idea for Jo's Poetry In Motion theme at Art Journal Journey, not only that but a couple more challenges too!
I stamped Paper Artsy's Jo Firth-Young mini people three times - once onto my journal page, once onto card(coloured it in) and then the heads only onto a couple of gold chocolate wrappers and paper pieced them together.
I added some bunting so that I could take part at Moo Mania and More for the Banners and Garlands theme.
I wrote out the name of the song that inspired me with gold pen and then outlined it with a black Micron pen
Just to brighten things up and to use up some of my foils I added some over the 'ground' I had made with alphabet and numbers form the minis!
I would also like enter at More Mixed Media Monthly - Anything Goes Bright Colours.
Last Tuesday I showed you some photos of Furness Abbey on a cloudy day. Here are a few more..
I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend! We are hoping to spot the Meteor shower later!
Thanks For looking, Chris
The other day I was inspired by seeing a fabulous card on Instagram made by Clare Messenger(@clarecraftsalot)
I had a little playtime!
I needed a card for my DIL and knew that this style would be perfect for her!
I CASEd (Copy And Share With Everybody) Clare's card in my own way!
The master board had to be bright so used a combination of paints and stencils, and I wanted to use JoFY's sunflower as that was what attracted me in the first place. Clare's card had a sophisticated black border and some subtly placed sequins! I went OTT with the stickles and chose my DIL's favourite colour as the border!
I decorated the envelope with more JoFY stamps.
I forgot to take a photo of the whole master board so here is part of it….…and this is how I used up the leftover paint!
I would like to enter Simon Says Monday Challenge to say Happy Birthday!
Thanks for looking, Chris
I made a tag as a reminder that Try It On Tuesday's 'Postcards/Mailart' theme still has one week to run!
It all started with some Distress Oxide play - I stamped a Crafty Individuals postcard on to one of the pieces I made.
I used my Ko-I-Nor watercolour set to colour it in
Next the tag - I mixed Oxides and Distress inks and some stencilling, just a bit too heavy handed but I did like the colour I ended up with. I added some stamping with a stamp that had become separated from it's set (I shall have to find where from)
I had a roll of washi tape out on my desk too so used a bit of that, dug around in my bits box to find some gauze which I coloured with Blueprint Sketch ink.
A bit of scuffing edges on the postcard, an Idea-ology remnant rubbed onto an offcut bit of oxide card and I had a tag that I wasn't entirely happy with - put it to one side then realised it needed edging and splattering with gold paint so had to do a bit of masking!
I would like to enter my tag at
Simon Says Wednesday challenge - Splatter It
Country View Challenges - Blues and Greens
A Vintage Journey - Watercolour.
Thanks for looking, Chris
First a big Thank You
The other week I received a fabulous ATC from Deb but as I knew that one was on it's way from Elizabeth I thought I would show both in the same post
Here is Deb's
It arrived with a beautiful card and some lovely bits and pieces that Deb said she hoped I could use!
Thank you so much Deb! It will be a case of 'Watch this space!" as I have something in mind!
Elizabeth's packet arrived last week not long before we left for our caravan with some definitely usable stamps!
The ATC - you may have already seen the ones Elizabeth sent - was a very clever idea! I wouldn't play cards with Elizabeth if you drop by her house one day though!
Along with them came THE most beautiful handmade papers - as I was sitting beside hubby on our sofa he would tell you that I was making the loudest Oohs!and Aahs! anyone ever made - it may be time before I can bear to use them but I can tell you that I definitely will be - maybe a little piece at a time!!! Every single one is beautiful! Not only that, Elizabeth was pestered into sending me some deli paper so I am making plans for using that too!

| See what I mean! |
Thank You so much Elizabeth!
I have seen Elizabeth's post about my ATC package and have already confessed to her in an e-mail that she would not have got those dies if I hadn't spotted them in a box at Paperchase a few weeks ago with a massive 85% off them! My halo is definitely slipping now!!
Last week we went up to our caravan - on Friday we had an outing to Furness Abbey - somewhere we have tried to visit before but found it closed.
We stopped on the way for a picnic by the sea!
We stayed in the car but some folk were out walking - maybe next time…
We did get the binoculars out though - we could see Heysham quite well, but to the right of it we could see Blackpool quite well with the 'bins'!
We arrived at Furness Abbey and it was looking very much like rain so we knew we would have to get a move on!
We hadn't got far when it started to rain - Furness Abbey is in ruins but fortunately round by the cloisters there was some shelter - it was a short shower and we were able to see the rest of the abbey without getting wet!
I loved seeing these flowers that were growing out of crevices in the walls!
Of course I did take some shots of the abbey but I had to use some of hubby's too
We did take a lot of photos and I will show some more later in the week
As it is Tuesday I am joining Bluebeard and Elizabeth for T Stands For Tuesday!
We had intended visiting the cafe near the abbey - they sell the most delicious scones EVER, but they wren just shutting up - I suppose with it being a dull day not many folk were going down there!
We drove back to Ulverstone and called in to Booths for some shopping and shared a chocolate tiffin cake with our drinks - Tea for him and Americano for me!
Hubby was in his acting up mode so I thought this one...
…or maybe this one….
…would give you an idea of what I have to put up with!!!
You do know I'm only joking…..or am I??
Oh! and before I go I am linking my Thankyou tag to Tag Tuesday where the theme is Use Your Scraps
My next post is a reminder about Try It On Tuesday where the Postcard/Mailart theme still has week to go!
Thanks for looking, Chris
Good Evening! We managed a few days away at out caravan without too much rain but it is good to be back to where I can get a steady(ish) connection!
I don't know whether anyone used to watch a series on Saturday nights called 'Primeval'? The stories were a bit far fetched - about travelling in time via anomalies - but we used to watch a)because we liked the actors in it, b)because our grandson used to visit at weekends and he liked the dinosaurs/fantastic beasts that used to be featured and c) because there's nothing like a bit of fantasy on a Saturday night!!!
Of course we also used to watch Doctor Who travelling through time too!
I found this quote at the bottom of a notebook I used to use and immediately thought of Time Travel!
Kim Dellow's stencil became my anomaly - I used Copper paint over a Distress Oxides background!
Poor Maudie, she is looking perplexed because a creature grabbed her hand and now she can't get it back by her side - hopefully when the effects wear off she will be able to pull her own boots off!
I used some white napkin and some watered down silver paint to give a sheen where she just managed to get back through the anomaly.
I aded some insect type doodling along the edge and gave Maudie somewhere to land too!
I was tempted to add the words by typing them out on the computer but decided that as my handwriting requires more practice to write them out instead!
I am adding this to the link to Art Journal Journey for Jo's Poetry In Motion theme!
Thanks for looking, Chris
I haven't been in my craft room as much lately and when I have I have been trying to get ahead on some projects!
Of course, any spare time I get I spend playing in my journals! When I saw Jo's fabulous new theme Poetry In Motion at Art Journal Journey lots of things came to mind.
As usual this began as a mop up page and over the months(!) has had bits added!
However this morning saw the quickest finish of a page ever!
The tag was hanging around on my desk and I printed off the poem by William Brighty Rands - who was also famous for his nursery rhymes for children in the Victorian era!
The cat is a Lavinia stamp and he(sorry, must be a he!) is standing on some book print with some appropriate words that I found on the first piece of paper I picked up!
I would also like to join in at Moo Mania and More where the theme 'Cats' still has a few days to go!
Thanks for looking, Chris

Have you been? Are you going? Even if you are having what is now called a 'Staycation' you may like to know that our new theme at Try It On Tuesday this time is Postcards/Mailart! As usual the DT have made some great samples!
It would be great to see where your postcard might come from!
I'm sure that you can guess where mine is from, especially if you look at the postmark!
I must have spent quite a lot at Paper Artsy over the years because I have loads of these complimentary postcards!
I tore up some old French book pages(bought at a Brocante that my SIL took me to)
The card was then dipped into some watery Distess Oxide - Vintage Photo - on my mat.
I stamped one of Lynne Perella's skyline stamps PA LPC012 and part of an Everything Art texture stamp PA EEA06
…and then used black for my Sentiment.
I stamped some JoFY flowers from PA JoFY25
onto a sheet of Prima paper, coloured them with watercolour paint and fussy cut them!
They were added to my postcard as a reminder of the flowers in the Paris parks
Just to finish it off I rubbed some Stormy Sky DI around the edges!
As usual you have two weeks until the TIOT challenge closes - (13th August)so hope to see you joining in!
