Hi everyone, my latest journal page for Tracey's 'My Favourite colour is October' at Art Journal Journey features ferns.
As a child we would visit a great Aunt who lived on a common near Guildford. We would walk to her house from the bus stop through the bracken and I loved looking at the fronds in their various forms over the years.
The frame is a sticky one I have had for years and of course the ferns are from the new Crafty Individuals sets. I used a stencil to add some orange and brown squares - some of which have been outlined with glittery pens. Before sticking down the fussy cut ferns I added some gold spatters.
Here are some of the ferns I have photographed this year so far

I like the earth tones of your piece. Ferns are so pretty and so useful in floral arrangements. Living near the woods, the edges of my property are covered in ferns.
Lucky you to be able to see so many ferns on your trips and adventures. They truly compliment the beauty of your latest journal page. This is so well done and I love the colors you chose, too, dear. Thanks for another lovely page using Tracey's theme at AJJ.
great page, love the earthy tones but the fresh greens in the photo are fab!
Nice idea to do ferns and made them brown. That is so October. I was just looking at the ferns in my yard and how they have turned brown in the last few days. This is a super page Chris. Hugs-Erika
Ferns are the first thing to grow once the lava cools on new land, or newly covered land here in Hawaii. Lovely post. Thanks for sharing your memory.
Beautiful colours in our lovely ferns page, and great photos, too. I recently dreamt about ferns, somebody was trying to make me eat them and saying they were soooo healthy! Have a great day, hugs, Valerie
What a great page Chris, I agree I love ferns especially as a child they reminded me of tropical lands. My MIL has a fabulous fern display in her garden that provides green all year round, looks magical to me when other leaf life starts to fade around it. Thank for joining me again @ AJJ.
Happy creative weekend Hugs Tracey x
oh this is lovely Chris! I have some ferns in the garden, they keep spreading to other parts which is very handy. I miss the huge tree ferns I used to have in my Melbourne garden though. Elle xx
Beautiful art and lovely ferns Chris!
So peaceful to look a simple natural foliage. I always find the fiddle ferns so interesting. The first time I saw them was in Chile.
