T Stands for.....the Tour of North Yorkshire

Hi everyone, before I  start to show you our holiday photos I am including my Calendar journal pages here.

I painted the background, adding a few fluffy clouds and birds and then added some coloured and cut stamped images using some Carabelle Studio stamps designed by Kate Crane.

I am joining in at Art Journal Journey with Wendy's 'Doors and/or Arches' theme

Here is last month's pages, with a few additions to the fish.

As I said yesterday - we were about 'Ruined out', but the East coast of Northen England has so many lovely ruined buildings.

On our first day of staying in Pickering we visited the castle

There were some great views over the countryside.

Next we went to the Parish Church, one of the highlights of our holiday.
There are original Mediaeval paintings on the walls

I  had hoped we would get back there again later in the week but alas no!
The next day we visited Rivaulx Abbey - one of the best preserved in Europe

The next day we went to Whitby, via Robin Hoods Bay.

We put our raincoats on but luckily it didn't rain!

There was a school field trip going on.
Whitby was as I remembered it from forty years ago.

We could see famous Whitby Abbey on the other side of the bay, but first ....

...something else that Whitby is famous for..
Hubby told me that I should be drinking tea with my Fish, Chips and Mushy peas but I stuck to water!
Of course I am joining Bleubeard and Elizabeth for T stands For Tuesday before going to the Abbey.

Those of you that are into horror stories and movies may know that Bram Stoker got his inspiration for 'Dracula' here. You can read more on this English Heritage page

I will post more later this week and next TFST...but ...I won't be here on Tuesday..I will be on a train headed for Paris with my granddaughter!
Yes, she and I are having a few days away in my favourite city and hubby will be home alone.

I'm sure the photos I take will have more of a traditional view of Paris - we'll be visiting landmarks and shopping!!!

Thanks for looking, Chris

Journal page plus!

Hi everyone! We're back from our trip to North Yorkshire, where we had lovely weather and were able to get out and about and explore the area.

Mind you, we are now 'ruined' out! There are so many lovely ruined abbeys, priories and castles in that part of the world. Lots of arches and old doors though, just right for Wendy's 'Doors and/or Arches' theme at Art Journal Journey.

I did find time to make another page and hope to sit down today and make some more.

This page was made by using some  stencils and two colours of distress ink. I had some leftover scraps of washi tape from making my ICADs. I stuck them on to a scrap of black paper and cut them up. The door is a Crafty Individuals stamp which I stamped onto grey paper and coloured with Derwent pencils. We visited Betty's tea rooms a couple of times when we were away and they give you a card each time with their website on - this one made a great mount for the door.
The little girl ( a Tim Holtz paper doll) has found a door just her size - should she enter?
The page was completed with a scrap of grey paper, a piece of stray washi tape and a small talk sticker.

Now, I have week 4 ICADs to show you..

Just a few photos - there will be more in my TSFT post

As I said - lots of doors and arches!

Thanks for looking, Chris

Doors at Art Journal Journey

Hi everyone, its time for a new theme at Art Journal Journey. Wendy is our host and she has chosen 'Doors and Arches' as her theme.

Thanks to Mia for hosting last month.

I used stamps designed by Bipasha for Aall and Create.

I coloured the images using Staedler Fineliners and then used a waterbrush to lighten and spread the colour a little.

We are on our way home from our holiday so I won't see much of other blogs until tomorrow!

I may have taken a few photos of our outings in North Yorkshire!

I do hope you can join us this month.

 Thanks for looking, Chris
