T Stands for - the Abbey and more

I can hardly believe a week has passed so quickly. We have been busy and I have been sleeping so well that I overslept twice - by an hour each time!

Before I continue with our French trip I have a journal page for Tracey's 'My favourite Colour Is October' theme at Art Journal Journey.

It was a Wanderlust class by Tania Ahmed that we both enjoyed, using Dina Wakley gloss sprays, texture paste and gold embossing powder.

I took a few liberties and made mine into an Autumn page. Here's hubby's

He added more colour to his.

Now, time to return to France.

I showed you how we spent the morning in Parthenay now to continue to Celles - Sur - Belle.

We had seen pictures in a travel guide and thought that the Abbey looked interesting. When we arrived we very quickly found the Abatiale (the Abbey church) which was beautiful inside

This was in the square outside.

The organ was recently restored

We came out and after a short walk around the block we found the Abbey.

From here all of the photos are by hubby - I couldn't wrestle with the audio guide and my phone!

There was a small museum in the more recently built building but we enjoyed looking around the ruins...
...and the gardens.

As we got back to the car the rain that had been threatening started but only amounted to a few spots but when we arrived back at SIL's house it had clearly been pouring!

I am joining Bleubeard and Elizabeth for T Stands for Tuesday with drinks and a shared date and ginger slice we had at Fletcher Moss last Friday. We went on a whim as the weather was bright and really enjoyed our coffee as a group of musicians were playing 'oldies' from the 60's and 70's nearby

Thanks for looking, Chris

Love both journal pages. The gold texture on the leaves is a lovely touch, and I really like the alphabet texture on hubby's.
Another absolutely gorgeous Abbey-both inside and out! The organ and views from the entry are just stunning!! Glad the rain held out until you were leaving.
Delish looking coffee and treat on such a lovely walk and park adventure. Cheers, and happy T day!

Your Wanderlust pages are beautiful. I especially like that you created yours so it could work well with Tracey's theme at Art Journal Journey.

The Abbey church is beautiful inside. Those gothic arches are incredible. What a view you gave us. I'd be afraid to play that organ because it is so high in the air. The detail on the columns is amazing.

The gardens are beautiful. They are really symmetrical.

A lovely autumnal return to Fletcher Moss. How different from the garden in France. I hate to say this, but whatever T is drinking/eating, it looks a lot better than the date and ginger slice. Thanks for sharing both trips and great drinks with us for T this Tuesday, dear Chris.

I'm loving your page Chris. The gold leaf looks fantastic. And nice to see your hubby is back to his art too. It is always fun to see how they compare. And that old church is really gorgeous. I love the details; you can tell it is really old. And what a pretty garden too. This is another great T day post Chris. I hope you had a wonderful T day and have a week ahead.hugs-Erika

Celles - Sur - Belle looks beautiful. I looked up the Abbey and learned that it was originally built in the 1100s, so it must be Romanesque. I just love that style. I once toured that region, but I don’t remember if I visited that particular city. All your photos are lovely.

Great Journal pages that you both made - so interesting to see the different directions you went in and the different colors. Looks like a great class and like you both got A+s!

Fab pictures too. Such a beautiful church...craftmenship like that is so missing in today's world. What a great visit you had. Your local trip looks fun too - especially the great looking coffee and dessert.

Hi Chris. I loved seeing your journal pages. I think it is great that you and your hubby do it together!
The abbey is GORGEOUS! I love everything about it but the gardens and that organ have to be my favorite. I bet it would be an experience to hear the organ played.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
