Warning - there are lots here too!
On our final day in Carcassonne we had a walk past the old city and into the main city.
We passed the wall that I showed you in a previous post
Down the hill to the old bridge...
….where these two were in good spirit - they may have been on the route to Santiago de Compostela.
We had a good view of the bridge that we walked over when we first arrived in Carcassonne and good views of the old city too.
We stopped for a coffee at a lovely little cafe so I will be joining Bleubeard and Elizabeth for T Stands For Tuesday
Inside was a real delight..
Hubby took a closer look
The cafe was quite full so I have only shown you photos with no one in them - the comfy chairs were snapped as someone left!
I have never seen such a fantastic array of cakes and chose a slice of fruit cake to share - thank goodness we didn't order one each -it was huge!!! Our drinks were tea - hubby, coffee - me!
From here we enjoyed a walk through the main streets and picked up a sandwich to eat by the canal while we waited for the boat to let us on.
The trip was for nearly 3 hours and we went through two locks and turned just before we reached a third.
At one of the locks we saw a mink - I think the man in the small boat was distracted as when we started to go down the edge of his boat caught on the side and he had to push it off with a bit of a bang!
Beyond the Black Mountains is the Massif central
The Canal du Midi is lined with trees that put their roots down and stabilise the banks.
The three hours went very quickly and we were soon back at the Marina.
I hope that you are still here so that I can wish you a Happy T Day. I'll be here again in few hours with my post for the new theme for Try It On Tuesday!
Thanks for looking, Chris

Carcassonne is a wonderful place, you can't show too many pictures of it. That cafe is a treasure, what a great place to sit and enjoy wonderful cake, it all looks sooooooooooooooo good! You have lot of great memories to keep you going over the next months. Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
I can NEVER get too many photos of your travels. These are wonderful photos of Carcassonne. I really enjoyed the bridge photos, but wondered about that river. It looked very low.
That cafe was incredible. Such beauty and exactly as I imagined a French pastry establishment. The cake looked fabulous, as did all the pastries. T took a wonderful photo of you in front of the building. I was quite impressed with it, as well as the one of you on the boat. He did good and you can tell him I said so, too (grin).
Goodness, I've never seen a mink that wasn't in a cage. How awesome to see one on the streets of Carcassonne.
Thanks for sharing these wonderful photos of your trip (time spent in Carcassonne), the lovely cafe, and your coffee and T's tea with us for T this Tuesday. It's a good thing my T works great on my keyboard (Ha!).

Happy T-Day my friend!
I am really enjoying your travel photos Chris. I want to go see Carcassonne sometime and more of the area around there. Your photos are great. And that cafe looks like a cool place. How do you pick what to eat? I think you made a good choice, and the canal trip looks fun. Thanks for sharing, and I hope we get to see some more. Hugs-and happy T day-Erika
More beautiful photos of your trip Chris and the cafe you found looked delightful. The cake looked yummy, but the size of the slice was enormous, sore sure large enough for two to share.
Happy T day wishes Chris.

So nice to take a chair trip with my cuppa at my elbow. This is as close as I'll get to a trip to France. I love the illuminated initials on the wall. The castle is right out of a fairytale. The cafe looks so comfy and welcoming. And I couldn't get over the array of pastries. After the boat excursion, I'd head back to the cafe for another slice of cake. Happy T Day.
Beautiful photos of France. Happy t day!
Virtual travel ;) What a way to go! Thanks for sharing these photos to take me with you on the trip. :) Happy T Tuesday
your travels and photos are always delightful! I would have missed the little mink if you hadn't mentioned him...so cute! That cafe was indeed stocked with the most amazing array of goodies. yum fruitcake! happy T day!
P.S. the murals on the bridge in the first photo are stunning!
a super interesting post, Chris - a Destination to add to my "where to go" list. the Bridge on the first pic is fascinating! i love medieval paintings, can get enough of them.
i wish i could beam myself to this Café right now! Looks soooo delicious...
have a great week:)
I don't mind the wealth of photos, Chris. You had a wonderful trip to places I've heard of and places I hadn't! I'm enjoying your trip vicariously ;-)
A lovely cafe indeed and a nice photo of you on the canal boat. Thanks for sharing,
Happy T-Day!! Hugs, Eileen
I'm so grateful you've been sharing all these wonderful photos. Carcassone has been moving ever higher up my list with each post - magnificent! The shabby chic decor in the cafe is such a treat, and those cakes look pretty amazing too. When I first saw the photo of your slice of fruit cake, I wondered if it was just a very small plate... I'm happy to learn the reverse was true!
