Walk The Line - you can and you will!

Hi everyone, my friend's funeral was strange affair with everyone wearing masks and all sitting socially distanced. Even afterwards it didn't seem right not to be hugging her daughter/family.

However, several pieces of her favourite music were played and there were lots of anecdotes about her and she got the best send off in the circumstances allowed!

Hopefully next Summer we will be celebrating her life with a Garden Party.

Afterwards Hubby and I headed for Fletcher Moss, one of the places that we were going to visit with her. She would have loved it, we had a walk and a coffee and came home.

After lunch I went to make a journal page, even though I have some in hand for Art Journal Journey I just felt the need to add this to my 'Hold the Line' theme!

I took a page from one of my Dina Wakely Collage media books (part of my Simon Says Stamp Monday win)- it had a line on it that definitely had taken walk across Dina's painty background.
I added some more lines via some of Dina's tissue papers.
I then added some stencilling using distress oxides (Dina's stencil)
and some stamping (Dina's stamps)
I added a cut out figure at a slight angle from another of the books and stamped the flower.
I stamped the 'ART IS FREEDOM' quote which reminded me of my friend - because she wasn't at all arty but bit the bullet and joined us at the art classes at the Witworth Art Gallery and had begun to enjoy some of the activities.

She was the kind of person who got on with things, as her daughter recounted some of the things she said when first diagnosed, but she did not want pitying looks or soft words, which I think is why we were only told as symptoms worsened and she moved to the hospice.

I had found 'You can and you will' amongst the tissue words of Dina's and I am going to use them as my tribute to Sheila.

Thanks for looking, Chris

How sad things must have been that you had to distance yourselves. These are trying and unique times, but at least she got to have a funeral, something many never got in the states. They went directly from the hospital to the grave. It sounds like in the end, things turned out beautifully. I'm sure she would have enjoyed the time at Fletcher Moss with you and T, too.

Your journal page to her is marvelous. It's full of color and lots of lines. It's a great tribute to your friendship and caring. Thanks for yet another great entry using your theme at Art Journal Journey. I hope all is well with you, too.

Your journal page is very Kandinsky-esque.
Again, I am so sorry for your loss.

That is a strong tribute. For obviously a very strong person. Wonderful that you went to that place and take her with you in your hearts.
It must´ve been strange with the masks etc, sounds unreal. And how cruel you cannot hug.
Your page is wonderful, especially for this.

So many things have changed, we have to do what we feel is best to help us along. It was good that you could go for the walk and make this lovely page to remember better times.
Its a fantastic page for your AJJ theme Chris.
Stay safe.

It must be tough to say goodbye to someone in these times. I hope at least some of the stories put smiles on people faces. A walk and then some art would be very healing for me, and I am guessing for you also. Your page is amazing. I like the colors, the line and the quote too. It is a wonderful page. Hope you have a good new week Chris. Hugs-Erika

Awww, that's just a beautiful post, what a wonderful way to remember your friend in all these ways. I do like your page very much! Wish I could be that messy and free with the real art supplies. Just more proof of how fearless you are, Chris. I am constantly amazed how on the go you and hubby are in the midst of the pandemic of the century, lol. And I love reading of your adventures. Bless you both, XXO
