Line up with the stars

Hi everyone, I would like to thank all those folk who are linking such fabulous pages to my 'Hold The Line' theme at Art Journal Journey.     I am really enjoying seeing the fabulous ideas you have!

Early on in the month Elle from Empire of the Cat made a wonderful page about stars. It was something I had thought about but wasn't sure how I would go about it.

Last week I bought a stamp set on line with the title 'Celestial Navigation (by Olga Heldwein of Aall and Create) which set me on track for this page. I had bought some Stamperia papers a while ago so I cut the astronomy map out along with a moon to add over the stamping. I added some stencilling through the Lotsa Dotz stencil and stamped Bipsaha Bk's sailing ship (also Aall and Create) I remembered that I had this telescope by Tracey Easson and also used some of her words.

I can't imagine what being in the middle of an ocean must have been like without all the navigational aids there are now!

I must say though, that wherever we are I often look in the sky for certain constellations so that I know which direction I am facing!     (I know, another weird fact about me!)

I am of course linking to Art Journal Journey.

Thanks for looking, Chris

Beautiful page. I am always astonished that people were able to navigate the known world the way they did! Have a nice evening! Hugs, Valerie

Fascinating and wonderful page, Chris. Celestial navigation is still pretty incredible to me today. I can barely navigate my way around town. Enjoy your weekend. Hugs, Eileen

Wow Chris. I just love the connection between the sky and the ship. Sky charts are cool, and combined with the ship, it is really a super page. Right up my style! A beauty for sure. Have a great rest of your weekend. Hugs-Erika

Oh, this is a wonderful page, my Dad would´ve so loved this!
And my Hubby, too, I´ll show him :-)

Oh, yes, to imagine being out there not knowing what´s next! I´d never be that brave...

Beautiful work, Chris!

Wonderful page, Chris. Just last month I did an art piece for a Ships theme and I went down a Google learning hole, all about ancient navigators and the constellations being their first GPS. And all captains paid homage to Urina, Greek Goddess/Muse of Astronomy, and how to this day you can bet money that even cruise ship captains know their constellations, lol. It is something we no longer think about but it wasn't that long ago everyone knew about these things. XOXOX

Celestial navigation conjures up so many lovely pictures and this page depicts it perfectly. What a lovely stamp that is that you used - Olga does some beautiful stamps - just wish i could draw like that.
Hugs and Thanks for a great challenge
