WOYWW 282

It's good to be back, although life has been a bit hectic since we got back a week ago! Julia's blog has the details about WOYWW.

I have had some crafty time, but my desk doesn't have much to show at the moment!
A journal page I've started…and may finish!
I expect you'd like to see whether I bought anything crafty while away …of course I did!

Just a few bits and pieces that would fit into our cases!
I have already posted some pictures of our trip if you care to take a peek!

Hope to get to visit soon, Chris

Day 2, part 2 Innsbruck

As I've already said, I LOVE Innsbruck!
Just a few more photos of our afternoon where we visited a cathedral and went half way up a mountain!
A quick sausage and bread lunch opposite this fabulous florists

On the way to the station

You can just see the ski jump

A walk around and came across this church with fantastic murals

Saw this and called in for a drink and strudel

I'm on holiday - OK?
This was across from the cafe. If we'd had more time….she lied…..Seriously, we didn't want to spend more time, and anyway I want to come back to Innsbruck so there's always another time! There's also a zoo to visit!
On the way back to the railway station we saw this old water fountain with the modern station behind it.
On our walk back into town we saw these lovely houses

It was getting dark too
But we wanted to see the city archway
A quick look into some shop windows
Another florist

Love these bird feeders!

Back to the hotel in time for another delicious evening meal…we're on the move again tomorrow!
I'm linking to Elizabeth's T stands for Tuesday
Thanks for looking, Chris

Austria - Day 2

Innsbruck…….the purpose of our travels this time was to give me a flavour of the places we visited, hubby had visited Austria several times before we met. Well, I LOVE Innsbruck. As I told you in the last post we were only a short walk away from the Aldstadt (Old Town).
The view in the morning when we got up was ….cloudy…

...but with a promise of sun we went off to breakfast.

Lots of choices to make - but I'm afraid I wasn't tempted by carrot juice at breakfast time!
When we got back to our room, having spoken to the maid in the corridor(in my very poor German!)before we went, we found this
…really made us smile! How clever!
So, out on the town, lots to to see…I'll only comment if I think I need to…promise!

the view from the Golden Roof Balcony….
…which rather cleverly reflects the pictures on the walls onto
mirrors on the floor
Then we had a visit to the very best museum we have ever visited!
carders anyone?

fabulous printing display!
A whole room full of a celebration of death!
There was also a full room of Miniature Nativity scenes
traditional…...
..and modern...
..and a room with films of how the miniatures were made.
The museum was the Tiroler Volkunztsmuseum, and as well as all I've show you here there were displays of traditional rooms through the ages, a exhibition..

with an interactive mask display - one of the ones hubby chose to have interposed on his normally handsome features!
As well as all this, the museum linked to the Hofkirche - both in the gallery and on the floor of the church.A beautiful tranquil place.

Emperor Maximillian's cenotaph and the statues of his protectors

So, it was off to lunch for us…
..and a break for you..
Thanks for looking, back later, Chris

Autumn tag!

After posting some photos of our trip I was in need of some crafty time!
The theme at Lavinia Stamps is Autumn Colours - only Lavinia stamps allowed but that's no problem - Tracy's stamps are fabulous.
I did some splodging around and some stencilling to make the background, added some Washi tape then stamped the seed pods and the leap-frogging fairy with Archival 'Coffee', then clear embossed them. Coloured in the pods with a new purchase while on holiday (Woodies - chunky water colour pencils by Stabilo). The fairy was coloured with Distress Markers and Sakura pens. Edged the tag with Distress ink - left on my green sponge.
The leaves and cones again were from my holiday! The ribbon at the top was from my ribbon box.

I would also like to enter in the challenge at Anything But a Card which is Autumn Magic/Spring Wonder challenge 40

Thanks for looking, Chris

Let's start at the very beginning……..

although it may be more appropriate to sing "fah, a long, long way to go"……..our journey started at 5.15am when the taxi picked us up! we were on our way to Austria!!
Yes folks, let the saga begin!! We lost count of the number of photos we took but it was getting on for 2,000!
If, you've got refreshments with you right now you'll be fine! (Oh! and be warned, this is only day 1)
I decided to change how I recorded this trip, knowing there were going to quite a few train journeys I took a water colour pad and pencils, pitt pens, glue, scissors and a few scraps of paper.
This first pic could be a spoiler so I photographed it upside down (turn it around if you must!!)
We landed in Geneva on time around 11.00 which gave us enough time to walk through to the railway station via a supermarket to get a lunch to eat on the train which left at 12.20.
Lake Leman(or L Geneva if you prefer) on one side….
…..trees and houses on the other This lady didn't mind if she was in the photo!
I had no idea that the lake was so long!
We weren't far away from the information screen
We turned away from this lake halfway along it and went up alongside Lake Neuchatel

Hubby had told me how beautiful Switzerland was but the views were breathtaking at times!

A blurry pic of a Lindt chocolate factory
We reached Zurich at around 3.00 with around an hour and three quarters to fill so rather than stay in the station we dragged our cases across the tram lines and the river to find a proper Swiss cafe!
Oh! There were a few cakes around too!
Then it was back to station via a call in to a museum - no body seemed to mind our cases!

The roof was beautiful!. There were repairs taking place so  the other  photos  weren't so thrilling
Yes that's me! Had to pick up my case to go across some gravel
This is what I did as far as Zurich - a bit wobbly, but my version of what we saw, hubby was photographer in chief
as you can see he got my reflection here
By now the sun was shining all the time…..

…but it soon went dark and photos had to stop
This angel of a cloud at sunset taken with my phone!
We arrived in Innsbruck, Austria at 8.20 - a short walk around some corners to find Hotel Central - just time to freshen up and go to the Restaurant
Pork with Squash(Kurbis) and Parmesan risotto  - delicious!!
We were in definite need of a leg stretch before bed and only walked down a couple of short roads to see this….
Innsbruck's famous Golden Roof…and this beautiful pink building

We were about five minutes walk away from the old town and looked forward to our next day before a really good night's sleep!
My page from Zurich to Innsbruck looks like this
As you can see we passed another chocolate factory - Milka

Thanks for looking, hope you can come back for day two! Chris
