Venice architecture

My latest entry for Art Journal Journey is using a photo from a flyer inside a magazine. I had intended making a photo transfer but then realised that the view would be wrong, for this is also a memory of my visit to Venice. If you have been reading my blog for a while you may remember my traumatic(I know….over used word!)trip onto the Grand Canal on a gondola!(See here)
The quote was one I found via my phone.
The main background was made so long ago and has been in my journal just waiting for me to DO something!!
I made the watery background onto watercolour paper using Blueprint Sketch and Salty Ocean distress inks and stamped using the same colours. A little bit of Grunge paste through stencil and then added Viva Inka- Gold - Aquamarine by rubbing over with my finger. The 'waves' are a stem from Darcy's PA EDY10
I am loving Sheila's theme of Architecture at Art Journal Journey although I am still trying to visit other folk who have entered this great challenge!

Thanks for looking, Chris

Love it Chris!! the waves are so clever... going to go and read (or re-read) about the gondola trip now... am trying to find out why the TIO post didn't... seems the rest of the team are MIA!

The most perfect colours and such brilliant use of stencils to achieve movement in the water.
Fabulous!

Lovely atmospheric page.
It's great when you can use a background that's been around for a while and I do like the way you have made the sea (these Distress ink colours are so seductive) and included your own photograph.
A superb piece for the theme.

Hi Chris
Thanks for your comment; I think there may be a big wren population around at the moment, I have certainly seen quite a few.
I read your post about the gondola, you were so unlucky. Don't be put off it's such a magical place.
Have a great weekend

Everything about this screams fun, right down to the recycled magazine image. I like how you thought outside the box on those waves. Very clever.

Very nice art journal page with a fabulous photo motif on it. I also like the words you have chosen for this page. Venice has so much very nice motifs for making paintings and art in every way.
Dear Greetings
