March Calendar journal

Today is the day that Meteorologists call the first day of Spring, well that just shows that weather men don't always know what they are talking about!!!

My calendar page though, does show hope for a warm Spring eventually! I am entering in Rosie's new theme 'Spring' at Art Journal Journey
My page started with a coat of gesso then some distress crayon scribbling which was blended in with a damp finger.
I used two of AALL and Create sets (44 and 45)designed by Tracy Evans.I bought these at Rowan Tree Crafts in Carnforth at the weekend and this is my first play with them!
The flowers were made by stamping the hearts from set 45.
These were stamped onto white paper and glued together. I added some water colour pencil around the edges to make them pop.
The detail on these stamps is fabulous!
I used some of the leaf flowers upside down as 'vines' to decorate the top.

For me Spring officially starts on 21st March which was my Mum's birthday!
You can see what the weather is like here today
The white in the foreground is the window sill and the covered walkway to the main building
It is so cold today and we are expecting more snow(at the moment the ground is covered and we are seeing odd snowflakes fluttering past the window! I am thinking of our Scottish friends at the moment as I know they are getting far more snow than we are!

Thanks for looking, stay warm! Chris

Once again you have put my monthly calendar pages to shame. This spring inspired March calendar is fabulous. I am in AWE and to think it matches our theme at Art Journal Journey, too. Those flowers are beautiful and I love the fussy cut ones the best, I think. Thanks for sharing this first March entry with us at Art Journal Journey.

Your really made me smile today about your weather comments, do they ever get it right ...lol 😉. Wonderful calender pages, those stamps are so detailed and look amazing, I did wonder how long it would take you to use them ...lol 😀. It's so cold isn't it, we have had snow on and off today as well. Stay warm, enjoy the rest of your week and Happy March! J 😊

Spring has arrived here, with lots of rain and highs in the 60s. Glorious! Well, too much rain, but still... I'm taking these warmer days gladly. Your snow is beautiful, though.

It doesn't look like spring at all Chris. Love your new calendar and February's too. I think making art was the best way to spend your snowy day. :) Happy still winter month of March. Hugs-Erika

It is so cold and bleak outside that it is a pleasure to see your Springlike pages for your next months entries. Our garden is full of leaves that have blown from somewhere, we have had to move two large pots with bushes in them (blown over and down the steps) and the bird seed just blows away from the feeder. Dreadful!
Stay warm and keep creating these lovely things.
hugs, Neet xx

Love both your calendar spreads.
My birthday is the 28th. Never thought about it but that's when I start thinking about spring--LOL! Even though we can still get blizzards up here in April--hehe! Stay warm!! :)

Lovely calendars Chris - love the colours and the stamps that you used.
Not sure if I missed reading this - but I'm wondering if you stuck on individual squares for each day? if so - wow - well done for the patience doing that - well done any way - you know I mean :)

Love your spring calendar page chris - I agree with you - spring starts on the 21st March - we chose that as our wedding day specifically for that reason! Big hugs rachel x
