T Stands for....taken for a ride!!!

I may have mentioned that when we go to stay with our friends near Poitiers we go out for trips in their car!

They had read of an exhibition of tapestries in Poitiers so we set off or lunch first - we requested a return to a restaurant we had been to before but they decided to take us to a restaurant which was similar! I was pleased that they did because there was also an art exhibition on there, as well as fabulous art shop underneath it.
The art exhibition was by local artists and were of wildlife.

                     --------------------
I don't have any food photos from this place but I will join Bleubeard and Elizabeth here for T Stands for Tuesday with my drink related photo!

The other week I went out with friends for a meal- I had a tonic water but don't like taking my medication with fizzy drinks so asked for half a glass of water. We all laughed when they returned with a full pint glass of water! Not sure whether it was my diction or a lack of hearing...but there was plenty of water for my meds!!!
------------------------ After lunch we headed into Poitiers to visit the Tapestry exhibition in the Chapelle St Louis. There was a very good introductory video about Aubusson a town renowned for it's tapestry industry.
The tapestries were hung in rows across the church.
 Some were very traditional...

...some more modern - like this one!
This one was fascinating  as it looked like a plastic sheet when we first saw it...
...as you can see it was just amazing detail!

From the back
Here is a different angle where I think you can see the details more!

This was one of my favourites...
..although this sheep made me smile
The building was beautiful too.

We also got to see parts of Poitiers that we hadn't seen before

I still have a few more outings to share! Thanks for all your kind comments last week!

Thanks for looking, Chris

A new restaurant is always a treat, especially when an art exhibition is on site. The tapestries are gorgeous, and I love the varied styles. That architecture is impressive. It's another art form. You were surrounded by art!

Happy T Day :)

The "sheepskin" definitely made me smile, and the flowing puddle of rainbow colours, but I'm absolutely in awe of the plastic sheeting. I don't know that one would want it hanging on one's wall - big piece of plastic, anyone?! - but as a piece of sheer skill and technical brilliance, it's extraordinary. Lovely to see those extra little angles on Poitiers too - I'm in love with that secluded courtyard with the candle lanterns - how beautiful.

Thank you so much for sharing your travels with us. The unexpected art exhibition was fab and the tapestries were stunning.
The blue sheet of 'plastic' was incredible!
Your favorite, the melted colours, was beautiful too.
The unicorn sheep was fun to look at. I wouldn't mind that on the floor here.
Then a gentle walk through Poitiers. Perfect!
Happy belated T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca

I am SO sorry to be so late visiting. Beside the squirrel problem, I got back online just in time to learn there was going to be a hard freeze tonight. I spent the entire day cutting back my herbs and getting the ones I could lift into the house. The others I covered tonight with sheets.

I loved the art. I adored the lion and the sheep. All were good, but those were my favs.

Some of those tapestries were incredible, but I didn't "get" the plastic sheeting that looked like tapestry on the front. Apparently a lot of skill was involved. I definitely liked the rainbow of puddles. That was really clever. You gave us a lot of great art to appreciate this week, dear.

Had to laugh at your half glass of water. Maybe they thought you had lots of meds to take. Thanks for sharing these incredible artists and tapestries with us, as well as your fizzy water and regular water with us for T this week. Again, sorry for being so late.
