T Stands For….Taking you back to the start!

Hi everyone! I am still trying to get all of my photos off my phone - it's a long process but I have got some off now!
I have more photos of Carcassonne to show you! Here is a Tourisme site with some great videos too!
Carcassonne is a medieval walled city although on the tour we took in the morning we found that the city walls have layers in them including some Roman parts.
The castle was worth a visit, especially for the views of both the old town and the new!

The Basilique Saint-Nazaire in the old city was beautiful too! It was Carcassonne's only cathedral until the 1800's

On the first day we didn't leave until the sun was setting over the cemetery.
Although I commented that I thought it commercialised, the old city is one of France's most visited tourist attractions and I suppose along with that souvenir shops are a must!

As I am here for T Stands For Tuesday (hosted by the handsome Bleubeard  and his lovely owner and friend Elizabeth)I shall take you to the Creperie we went to in the evening - we had eaten a huge Cassoulet at lunch time(sorry no photos) so only wanted something lighter!

The menus were works of art!

I'm not sure how vegetarian this is though!
Our drink was water, hubby insisted he could see quite well in his sun glasses!

I had to wait a while for folk to finish their meals - it was quite busy and as soon as I could I took the next photo!
This was just one day in the Old City, I shall take you to the modern city over the river later this week.

Happy T Day!
Thanks for looking, Chris

I was in the middle of leaving you a comment when my electricity went off. It took about 45 minutes before it came back on, but of course, I lost everything, including the comment to you.

Carcassonne is a beautiful place, and the castle is so unique. I was surprised it was in such good condition, too. Of course, the Basilique Saint-Nazaire was even more beautiful and well worth the wait to see it. Those windows were simply over the top!

How ironic I've never heard of Carcassonne until now, and you say the old city is one of the most visited cities in France.

I had NO idea what a Cassoulet was, so did an internet search. One site called it "serious eats." I adored seeing the place you ate, and loved the images on the menu. They added to the overall beauty of the restaurant, too. I'd give anything for a really good cheese crepe. Your meals look wonderful.

Thanks for sharing Carcassonne, the stunning Basilique Saint-Nazaire, L'Ostal, the menu I adored, your food, and your water with us for T this Tuesday. Glad you are home for awhile.

You have taken us to a fantastic destination today. That is somewhere I would very much like to see for real. The photos were all great.
The restaurant also looked so inviting, those menu cards were art works in themselves.
Happy T day wishes Chris.

Oh, magnificent! So happy to see some more of Carcassonne through your eyes... all that history built into the very walls. Looks like you found a splendid place to eat too.

What a great menu! Love the illustrations :-)

Glad you had such an interesting time. You've added fuel to my desire to visit Carcassonne - I was supposed to go a few years ago and couldn't make the holiday... my French friends had booked hotels and everything, so I was very disappointed... still on my list, though.

Great photos on Instagram!

Layers in the walls dating back to the Romans - that's awesome, Chris! How wonderful that some of the Roman wall painting is still intact! "Cultures" that want to destroy the history left by others frighten and disgust me.

The basilica - wow! It must be inspirational just to stand in such a space.

Salmon vegetarian? Since when - lol? Thank you for the lovely tour of the old city.

Um, BTW, I think it is Bleubeard who owns Elizabeth ;-)

Happy T-Day! Hugs, Eileen
