If You Go Down To the Woods……..

…you may get a surprise! I did when Valerie contacted me way back last year to invite me to host this month's Art Journal Journey. To say that it is an honour and that I am thrilled is a big understatement!
So here I am, I hope you will join in this month with my theme , which as I say in the header to this post is 'If You Go Down to the Woods..'

I love woodland walks, you probably have seen some of my photos, trees fascinate me, and there is nothing better than walking along and finding a glade full of snowdrops, daffodils or bluebells!

There are also the woodland animals - I can waste quite a time watching out for birds…or squirrels..or deer..or...!

I am also fascinated by wildlife programmes with bears or wolves in them! Don't forget…the bears have picnics in the woods!

I think the fairies also have their place in the woods too!

Of course the other side of woods can be rather sinister, many of our scariest fairytales are set in the woods..Goldilocks and the 3 Bears, Hansel and Gretel, and of course…Little Red Riding Hood!

I used acrylic paint to paint my trees on the edge of the woods and Red Riding Hood, and Derwent Graphik line painters for the eyes in the woods along with Pitt pens.

I do hope you like my choice of theme and that you will join in this month at AJJ!

I look forward to seeing what you might find when you down to the woods!

I will be back in an hour or so to show you what I have for our new theme at TIOT so I do hope you come back then too!

Thanks for looking, Chris

This is stunning. I love all it implies, and it makes me suspenseful waiting for the big old wolf to come out. Don't go into the woods....can't wait to get home from work and play along. :) Oh yes, I love your TIOT piece too. How pretty.

Gosh Chris, this is a tricky one. But you demonstrated it well, and I can't wait for an idea to enter my head. Love this and the suspense it entails. Congrats again for being the host of AJJ this month.

Wonderful! I love the way you painted this page!!! One of my favorite songs when I was little was "The Bear's Picnic". So if you go out into the woods today you better go in disguise ....

I will never catch up if I comment on each of your many, many pieces, so I will look and comment here and there, although probably no more tonight. It's getting late...I really love this journal page. So mysterious, I wonder what's in those woods? Reminds me of the forests we would see when we'd go for drives to the city. Poor Red Riding Hood--she must be frightened! Hugs!
