Kirby Lonsdale - the walk that hurt!!

I showed you one of walks in Kirby Lonsdale a couple of weeks ago - we usually go along the river bank to the town and reward ourselves with a coffee. During half term my son and grandchildren came to stay with us at the caravan and on our last day we decided to go into KL to take them on 'our' walk. The only thing was by the time we got there it was lunch time so we headed off in the direction of town first!
After lunch we went through the churchyard, stopped to look at the flower calendar and then headed towards the river…..
down those steps!!!
Normally we climb these steps and I stop half way up (err, to admire the view!!)Well, we are heading down, me trying to keep up with GKs and son, no need to stop…we are going down, why should I need to?
I got to the bottom, admired the view…
..and carried on walking. It does look totally different the other way round!

Then of course GKs wanted to go down to the river - they have only ever seen this river when it was flooding the banks-now there is a stony beach!!

Should I follow?
Of course!

They had a wonderful time!

So did I-taking photos

During our walk we climbed up and down to different parts of the river...
…until GD slipped and got her feet wet!
Time for home - so into the car for the nearly two hour journey!

The next day walking was difficult and as my thighs had seized up sitting down was really difficult (we have a low level toilet too!!)
so every time I sat down there was an ooh! and an ow! to go with it!
It took three days to be back to normal!
Would I do it again - of course!

Thanks for looking, Chris

Golly Chris, I can almost feel your pain. But of course, I love the photos you took. They are incredibly stunning, especially the ones down by the water and the bridge. Autumn has truly arrived in your world.

I think the walk (and the photos) justify the pain - gorgeous scenery, and the trees are just stunning. TFS

Beautiful photographs!
Chris, it isn't funny at all but your comment about the low level toilet make me chuckle! In all seriousness, I am glad you are back to normal. Pain is never good not even when caused by a walk through beautiful scenery.

Ouch, yes, but completely worth it for the fun of seeing the walk the other way round and sharing your favourite places with the grandchildren. Thank you for also sharing them with us through the glorious photos.
