When we go away I almost always take my 'monster' pencil case - I try to fit in some crafty time - usually with an art journal! I do have supplies there but my pencil case has all my favourites in!
This is how I like it to be but it had become a bit of a quick storage for little scraps and was becoming harder to close - so, time for a sort out - it was raining on Friday morning so I tipped everything out and just put back in my essentials!
This is only part of what came out-
There were also bits of ribbon, twine, a button, a couple of small stamps and a lot of fluff!!
Now I know many of you would bin this but you know me better than that!
I had taken my smallest journal(31/2" x 4")with me so set myself a challenge of using up some of these scraps!
This is the first page
I used Distress ink to edge a mop up page that had also had some splashes on too!
I then stamped on the butterfly and edged that. The heart was inked with some red Distress ink and stamped with another Kaisercraft background stamp.
Went round the edge of the butterfly with a B4 pencil and smudged it to make a shadow and added a chit chat sticker.
I am entering the That's Crafty! Challenge blog 'Wings 'n Things challenge
and also linking to Brenda's Visual Journal at Bumblebees and Butterflies.
Thanks for looking, Chris

LOVE that divided pencil case Chris! I always pack one too, but that one is a GEM!
Your little journal is perfect for the project you chose, and your first page is fantastic.
Your challenge to yourself worked out really well Chris, your page looks amazing and you have a new streamlined pencil case, win win! :-) xxx
I think your pencil case is fab!! the journal page is also great - what a dinky little journal!!
Not sure how I got so far behind, but I simply adore the scraps. I always like it when I can use them to my advantage, and you have picked some great pieces to add to this page.
I am impressed with all your pens. I like that you store them properly, too. I learned a LONG time ago to store pens on their sides, not upright like some people do when they put them in cups and mugs.
Once again, this is a wonderful scrappy journal page. Wish my scraps were so elegant.
I totally wouldn't bin that - I'm with you! Love the results.
It's amazing what we can do with our scrappy left over pieces isn't it? You did such a great job organising these bits into a brilliant page. Glad to see someone else who loves their pencil case, I have a couple that go with me on holidays too. Thanks for linking to Visual Journey with this fab journal.

Beautiful pages Chris. I think we are all magpies at heart, I know I can't bare to throw my scraps away!
wow, you have been soooo busy the last days, i can hardly catch up... i love this scrappy Journal page and if i would run across such a divided pencil case it surely would be mine:)
Chris, I love this!! I especially love your splashed background, the stamped butterfly and the tissue bit just right of that.....such lovely textures! I admire your ability to work small so effectively - perfect for using these lovely little bits and bobs! Thanks for your comments also - xx Lynn
I love your tiny page! The soft brown background is perfect against that red heart! But...my favorite is that beautiful butterfly! Great work!

Who knew clearing out one's pencil case could lead to such lovely artwork! I love the shading around the butterfly and the warm coffee colours. Fab scrappy page!

Hello Chris,
I am feeling so guilty at this time as I have just tidied up the craft room and I have just filled my bin with scraps!!!! This is just wonderful what you have designed in your journal.
