WOYWW 218

Nothing much I'm afraid! Grandchildren went home yesterday and  we flopped in front of the tv! Well, not quite, we did a bit of garden tidying before we came to halt!
So, before I show you what I'm doing I'll just tell you that head honcho Julia can be found here and she will explain all about WOYWW! I'm sorry if you left a comment and I didn't get back to you last week, I did try but fear there may have a been a couple that I missed!
I've started to look through some papers that I brought up a while ago, got distracted(not hard for me)and ended up doodling in a little sketchbook then decided to copy the doodle into my Art Doodle Love book! Can you see my lovely Buddleia through the window? Want a better look?
See! I got up and went to the door for a clearer view, it's been covered with bees and butterflies! My hydrangeas however seem to be having a year off and haven't produced many flowers at all - maybe their record amount last year was too much for them!
We had intended going home today, packed up, cleaned, sat after lunch with a coffee and changed our mind - the sun is shining but it's cooler - tomorrow will do!

We need a few days at home before heading to London with son and two grandchildren next week but I'm sure we'll cope!
Now, some questions, is there a craft shop I should visit in London? Can you recommend any where I should visit with my grandchildren apart from the obvious museums and sights? Do you know anywhere reasonable to eat with children? We are staying four nights so hopefully will fit in quite a lot!

I'll just leave you with a picture of my silly doodle plant and then I hope to try and visit you.
Back with my desk in a couple of weeks.
Thanks for looking,Chris

Hello Chris! Blade Rubber Stamps is a pretty, little rubber stamp supplier in a street opposite the British Museum. You could take your grandchildren to the museum and pop in there afterwards. The road is called Bury Place and if you find the shop online, I think they have a map of where they are and a picture! Do your little ones like drawing and making? The Tate Britain at Millbank has a wonderful Art Trolley with all kinds of papers and scissors and crayons and a make every day for kids based on the collections - well, they used to; but I know the Tate is undergoing vast building programmes at the moment so check that one out! There is a nice restaurant (Armenian) called Jakob's about 30 mins walk from the Science Museum and Natural History Museums. Cass Arts near the National Portrait Gallery is good for art supplies and St Martins Crypt across the road is good for food, but always very, very busy! Have a good stay and don't wear yourselves out! Julie Ann xx #41

Wow, what an Amazing view in your garden :)
Hope you have a super time in London - we have visited some of the free museums all of which were fascinating. Going up the Thames on a boat is great fun - a real adventure for the children and maybe visiting The Cutty Sark at Greenwich.
We often just explore on foot and look out for the street Entertainers and soak up the mayhem, people watching :)

What a lovely view from your craft room. I love your doodling.

I don't know how old your grandchildren are but when mine children were younger, they loved going on a river cruise, The Tower and HMS Belfast.

Happy WOYWW. Susi #63

I was beaten to suggesting Blade Rubber.. Super shop and nice people.
Don't forget the cheap run around transport ticket to help you move about. The tour buses are available but someone told me to take a normal red bus that goes around the main sights and you'll see as much. If I remember correctly it might be the No11. There is a route planner you could look at and just put in where you want to go. At least you see more on the buses than down the tube!

Have fun whatever you do.

As others have saif I know Blade Rubber Stamps is in central London but have never visited. I always loved St Pauls and the Tower of London as a kid. Love the view from your window, I wouldn't want to leave either. Beautiful doodling, I'm too much of a controller to let go and doodle!!!

I only know of Blade Rubber. Sorry.
My hydrangeas have not done well this year and my beautiful, gorgeous, fabulous (you get the picture) rhododendron was a wash out. It is normally my pride and joy as can be seen on mob blog I recent years.

Gorgeous view. My hydrangea is only just coming out - think everything is a bit late this year. Can't help with London, but it sounds like you have plenty of ideas to be going on with!
Have a great time.

Not a silly doodle plant at all - it's lovely. We've got a buddleia full of butterflies at the moment too - it's so lovely watching them. Sorry to be behind - my internet's been playing up, so I'm sitting in Caffe Nero trying to do some catching up... have a great weekend!

I am exhausted just reading about all you are doing. The thought of walking round London (or any big city) just fills me with horror. I love my grandchildren and spent the day with them today, but taking them round London requires too much energy. I think I am a country person at heart these days. Thank you for your visit this week and I hope you find time for some crafting. xx Maggie #10
