T Stands for - the break

Hi everyone, I've already mentioned that our break did us so much good.

We had a lot of paper work to do and with a failing computer not was difficult.I'm pleased to say that the new computer is behaving well.

We have now had our PCR Covid tests which have come back with negative results. We had a couple of problems getting the information needed while we were away and ended up ringing a helpline - sorted in such a short time!

The holiday began with a little bit of trauma - we left our passports at home, fortunately youngest son was off work and could bring them to us.

We had to cancel a train to Poitiers and stay in Paris overnight but not too much harm done, although it did cut short our time with our friends (my ex SIL and hubby)

As it's Tuesday I'll start with our drinks...so that I can join the T Gang and Bleubeard and Elizabeth for T Stands for Tuesday at The Altered Book Lover blog

No smile from hubby as he was busy trying to sort out some accommodation for us in Paris.

We chose to go to a Mercure hotel and our first view in the morning was of the hotel chickens - we saw someone go and feed them later.

We had a little walk around the area - one we knew quite well. The hotel is on Rue de la Gaite where there are a number of old theatre buildings and lots of eateries

These bears are now everywhere in Paris - positioned to keep folk apart in cafes and bars
It was only a short walk to the railway station.
After a pleasant journey we finally reached our destination - lots of chatting even though we speak on Face Time each week.

The next morning we went for a lovely walk. During lockdown this was one of a few regular walks for our friends.

We did see some sunflowers in bloom later in the week but these were definitely over.

There is a stony path to climb
We got to play Pooh Sticks from the bridge. Click on the link if you need an explanation.
I loved the way the fence was decorated
A great letterbox....
...and colourful broken pottery in amongst the plants(what a brilliant idea)

We came to the goat farm that we had heard about

This goat was scratching his head with a branch

An open well - access prohibited!

This old mill had been up for let for while but we think someone may have moved in.

Squirrel crossing sign (we saw squirrels most days in the garden)

Are these Hops?

The people here must love birds of prey
Finally past the Chateau - it was good to take this walk in the morning, by midday it was quite hot!
The afternoon was spent eating and chatting!

I'll be back with more another day - actually, I'll be back with more probably till Christmas!!!

Thanks for looking

I'm sorry to hear about the problems at the beginning of the trip, but I'm glad it got sorted out quickly. Your photos are fantastic. And I love the bears: what a great idea! (Teddy said to tell you he loved those photos of yours best.)

Your trip looks quite idyllic -- like someone's imaginary concept of La France Profonde.

It looks like a wonderful walk Chris. I bet it was also wonderful to see your friends and visit, and get away. I'm glad you could do that, and that you got the passports straightened out too. It is always something, isn't it? I hope it was a lovely T day. hugs-Erika

This is the 5th time I've tried to leave a comment. Twice were try again later and three were Whoops, error. Not taking chances this time.

OF COURSE it would publish now that I didn't write anything!

I'll try to remember what I wrote before, Sounds like you had a great holiday. I loved the goat scratching its head, the chickens from your window, the watering cans on the fence, and the teddy bears.

Sorry to read your trip didn't start off as planned, but from the photos, at least you had a good time with your ex SIL in the short time you had together.

Thanks for sharing your trip, including the wonderful architecture in Paris and your drinks with us for T this week, dear friend.

Glad you are back and had a wonderful time, Chris. Love all your pictures. How fun they use bears to seperate people instea of ugly ropes and tape like here. Very interesting things you found to take pictures of - can't wait to see them all! Happy T-day!

What a wonderful trip even if it got off to a trying start without passports. Playing pooh sticks made me smile as did the large Teddy bears to remind people to keep social distance. Happy T Day

What lovely scenic places to walk! I'm impressed with the bears as distance maintainers. Such a friendly idea, much better than the taked-on block-printed signs I see here. Sweet!

Happy T Day!

Thanks for sharing the beautiful photos of your trip to Paris and beyond Chris, really cheered me up today. I love the idea of the bears, it seems so nice and friendly to be able to sit next to a bear instead. And yes those are hops, I have some in my garden. Apart from beer, they make lovely scented pillows to give you a good night's sleep. Sorry for my lateness, have a sick kitty. Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx

Lovely photos from Paris and France - since you wanted to take the trains to Poitiers, did you actually end end up in the Poitou? Lovely area. Yes, I think those are hops. I guess it sure was wonderful to have this kind of break.
