Flying High - Anything That Flies!

Hi everyone, Summer is on it's way...isn't it? Wind and rain isn't what I was hoping for!

We have a new topic at Try It On Tuesday - 'Flying High - Anything That Flies' You will see from the Design Team that that certainly does lead to lots of possibilites

I have made a little Zine about birds - I do love making Zines

They are easy to make

I started off with lots of scraps and a piece of copy paper folded in half lengthwise. Stick scraps on the bottom half and the turn the paper and stick scraps on the other side. This means that if you use anything with text on it will be the correct way up when complete.

At this point if you want a focal image on each page it is easier to fold gently so that you can position them. Fold to line up the short edges  then fold again - take care not to press too hard - this is just to help line things up.

At this point you can add flowers, words, buttons etc.

THEN - either scan and print, or take a photocopy of your page.

Fold your copy in the same way as you folded the original - it will fold much flatter. Fold the two short ends with the images on the outside and cut from the centre to the next fold

I have done this with a clear sheet of copy paper to show you where to cut

When you fold the page lengthwise ..

...this is what you will have

Bring them together and ....
..you have your Zine!
It's a great way to use up scraps.
Here are two I made a while ago.

I hope you will join us at Try It On Tuesday - 'Flying High' this time.
Thanks for looking, Chris

I love this Chris. What a cool little book. Or zine I should call it. I love the collaged background and all the birds too. Nicely done. I hope you get some summery weather soon and not lots of rain. How is the husband's healing going also? Take care. hugs-Erika

I haven't seen a zine before Chris, thanks for explaining, a great way of using up scraps for backgrounds. Love the focal bird images.

I've made this book before only I learned it as a "Surprise" book because after you fold and snip one sheet of paper, surprise! you have a little book. The only thing is I never thought to decorate the page before folding and snipping!

A fantastic project Chris. The birds and details on the pages look lovely. Thank you for showing how it was created. I have to admit this is the first one I've seen and how it was made.

Hi Chris, great to see you again. I love this Zine and it's such a brilliant idea how you made the background to use up pieces of card and paper. I certainly need a technique like that as I've been busy trying to sort my craft cabin and it's so hard to let stuff go. I must make more effort to get around the blogs again. Thanks for your kind words over at mine. Happy creating, Angela x
