Hi everyone, as I told you last week Nantes was a bit of a disaster as I felt unwell after the tram ride into the city. It was also extraordinarily very hot, as locals kept telling us over the next few days!
The good thing was we had a great meal the evening we arrived in Nantes.
The hotel we stayed in is just around the corner from a fabulous Italian restaurant Bella Citta.
This was the special dessert they were serving - we had to order at the same time as our mains (hubby had a carbonara - I had a 3 cheese linguini).
It was roasted figs with pistachio ice cream and an almond biscuit and sprinkled with chopped pistachios, and was one of the best desserts I have ever had (well, until later in our holiday!)
We love figs, one of favourite breakfasts at home is a chunk of Feta cheese, halved figs, a drizzle of honey, a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkling of chopped walnuts all roasted for around 15 minutes then served on hot toast.
Here is a better shot of our drinks, Mocktails and water (can you see the water bottle behind my drink?)
I am joining Bleubeard and Elizabeth and the T Gang over at The Altered Book Lover.
The next day was our visit to Clisson - a really lovely little town with an interesting Castle.
There was an animated history of the castle
The streets were so pretty
It is a way marker to the Hellfest site, which hosts a heavy metal festival each year near Clisson.
Monday was spent travelling to our friends' house near Poitiers.
We had a 'take it easy day' the next day - a meal out at one of our favourite Asian buffets.

Very fun! Thank you
Hi Chris, sounds like that was a great visit! I am drooling at the thought of your figs with ice cream. I was out with Heike this afternoon and we bought fresh figs! The photos are fabulous, I will come back tomorrow to look at them in more detail when I'm not so tired. Hapy T Day, hugs, Valerie
Great photos! I love the old ruins.
That dessert looks so delicious! I'm quite jealous over here!
OOOH! What fantastic places! And fabulous dessert!

That dessert does look delicious. I can't say I've ever had anything quite like that. And these medieval buildings are always so interesting. I always wonder about what they would have been like hundreds of years ago. And it's amazing they have lasted until now. That looks like a cool restaurant-well they both do. A cool luggage wall and also some fascinating decor. I hope it was a great T day. hugs-Erika
Love the architecture and that fresco. It is stunning.
That's a beautiful church and I love the streets that are so narrow they are walking lanes only. Great sculptures and nice to see the Hellfest guitar.
I miss Asian buffets. Most had to close after Covid and they never reopened. Glad you enjoyed the time you spent there.
Your dessert sounds delicious. I love pistachio ice cream. You gave us a plethora of drinks to choose from this week. T looks really happy sitting in front of that quirky bookcase. It's an architectural wonder.
Thanks for sharing this leg of your trip and your various drinks with us for T this Tuesday, dear Chris.
What a beautiful place to visit! That dessert look so amazing and I love the look of those mocktails, perfect for the hot weather 😊. Take care and happy wishes! Hugs, Jo x
Beautiful and quaint place to visit. The fig dessert sounds delicious as does the breakfast you make with them. My friend that owns a restaurant makes a fig pizza that is to die for. Happy T Day
Sorry you didn't feel well and glad it didn't last long. The meal looks wonderful and the drinks. What a beautiful place to visit. Thank you for sharing all the amazing photos.
Glad you weren't ill for long and got to enjoy wonderful food. That dessert sounds fantastic - I love figs too! Also love those suitcase shelves! And the big guitar! Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx
