T Stands for ....taking a trip back

Hi everyone, We have had a series of grey days which means I don't get much done...sun today..at least for the morning...lovely!!

I have kept back some lights from Christmas and put them in our hallway window - they will be removed when we have both had our COVID jabs!

They aren't very big lights but will cheer me up to see them while we are in Lockdown!

With the news that someone was fined for driving in their car to go for a peaceful walk we are either destined to get up and go out early for a walk before the sun gets up or just to walk around the apartment gardens. We looked by the river the other day and there were so many groups walking across the path we didn't bother.

While looking through for something else on a hard drive I found some of hubby's photos from July 2017 when we went to Carcassonne, Albi and Bordeaux.

The sun shone most of the time!

We took a canal boat tour which was very relaxing....and went on  day trip to Narbonne where I remember a very warm but strong wind!

Albi Cathedral is huge and very plain on the outside...
..but inside was one of the most beautifully decorated I have seen and one of my all time favourites.

I am also showing a favourite place to go in Carcassonne for T Stands For Tuesday - where we are invited by Bleubeard and Elizabeth to share a drink related photo!

This was at Meery Cake by the old bridge to the city and really we had to share  this piece of cake...
..with a display like this it would have been rude not to!
I couldn't find my 2017 photos so the are from my blog post at the time!

Meanwhile, there has been a very poorly plant...
I fear there is nothing further I can do for it!!!
My friend Sheila who passed away last year had kept the one I gave her for Christmas and it was still in very good health in July last year!

I don't often do ...'and finally'...but thought you might like these
Tempted to go out???
Who know this feeling?
Have a good week, thanks for looking, Chrisx

Some years poinsettias do better than others. It figures this would be an off year, right?! I like the idea of keeping some Christmas lights up and remembering sunny trips :) Happy T Tuesday!

Sorry about your poinsettia, mine has done very well this year, which is unusual for me. Love the photos, some warmth and sunshine would be good. Hope we can all soon be out and about again! The cake looks fantastic. Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie

Sad that the lockdown is so very strict yet i guess it has to be especially because of a few stupid people:( I hope you'll be able to get some walks in- it does so much for the soul to get outside in nature.
You know how much I LOVE your photos!!! That is one area of France I have never been to but long to see and that Albi cathedral- oh my-stunning!! Thanks for the virtual tour, and happy T day!

Enjoyed all of your travel photos, and yum your cake looks sooo good. My husband would love a piece.
our country will be joining yours soon with forced lockdowns--from allot of what I have read they really don't work and causes allot of other health problems-depression is much worse, ptsd is much worse and more. I have asthma the long hours of mask wearing makes me sick. we can blame it all on china. Hopefully you can walk around in your apartment -hugs Happy T

That's a wonderful area of France. We were there a number of years ago, enjoyed the Cathar ruins representing another era of the complex history there.

Such lovely lights, just the thing to cheer you up with Lockdown! My mum and dad had their Covid vaccine last week, no after effects just tiredness 😀. That looks such a lovely place to visit, so nice to see the blue skies and sunshine too with the grey days we have been having lately. I could happily join you for a cuppa and a piece of that cake too ...lol 😉. Happy T Day wishes! Hugs, Jo x

wow. They re being very strict, aren't they (stopping the folks driving for a walk). Your lights are lovely, and what a good idea to keep them up until your vaccinated. Things are bad right now here too. Your photos of Carcassonne were wonderful to see. I would like to visit there...someday. When we went to southern France we had time to either visit there or Avignon and we chose the later. Thanks for sharing those Chris. Stay safe, and I hope your vaccines come soon. Hugs-Erika

Now that we cannot travel due to Covid, it is good to remember beautiful images of past trips.

It's wonderful to look back on your trip especially when you are not allowed to go out. I enjoyed the photo of carcassonne and that cathedral. I have never seen that one, it is indeed stunning.
Your little lights are gorgeous. Have you got an appointment yet for your vaccination? some of my friends (who are high-risk) have got theirs, but we, being healthy penioners will have to wait I assume.
That cafe (and cake) look crumptious. I will just have to drool and not eat, as I have had enough calories over the Xmas period to last me all year.
Happy (belated) T-Day,
Lisca

I had a ton of paperwork I was trying to get out yesterday, which sucked up my time. I was late getting my T post up yesterday and now I'm even later playing host. I'm sorry I'm late visiting.

I first want to say I feel for your poinsettia. Mine is looking even worse than yours.

I like those lights that help keep you feeling happy while in lockdown.

That cathedral is GORGEOUS on the inside. You would never believe it to see the exterior. What a remarkable difference.

That is a beautiful place you stopped for tea and coffee. I like the topiary on the table, too. The cup and saucer you got were beautiful.

Thanks for sharing these old photos from your husband's camera and trip to Albi Cathedral, as well as your cake and drinks with us for T this Tuesday (that is now Wednesday due to my lateness).

Your ledge of birds with the twinkle lights are so pretty. Sorry to hear that things are so restrictive. Crazy that someone was fined for just being in their car.
Loved seeing the photos from your previous trip. The architecture is gorgeous and I loved seeing that pretty café and the cake. I hope that this will be over soon so you and your hubby can be out and about again, travelling.
Happy Belated Tea Day,
Kate

I always killed poinsettias so I quit ever buying them decades ago--for their sake.

Fun to have trips you can remember in photos as long as you can't go out. Sparkly lights help, too.

The video made me laugh and laugh!! Thanks, Chris! :)

I still have our Christmas tree up and light it every day. It cheers me. I don't have the energy to take it down anyway. I'm waiting for heart test results.

Your lockdown sounds really awful. I admire how you both seem to "Stay Calm and Carry On."

You've really had wonderful trips. (So have we, but never Europe.) I'd never heard of Carcassonne. What an impressive fortress.

I giggled at, "Stay at home or I will be knocking in your door." Duh, I'm not there. The second is a classic. That music teacher should go down in history.

Happy T-day! Stay safe and well. Hugs, Eileen

I have been doing a lot of zooming with craft friends. I think for me the stay at home thing has been easier as I am retired and older, and wouldn't have been going or traveling that much anyway. But it is sad for all the younger ones with graduations, sports and such that have had to make do. Funny little clip for us today. Thank you.
Happy T Day.

I missed you just yet again, sorry. Wonderful travel-pics, guess we´ll have to do with only memories for a longer time, so thank you for the virtual journey!

I left the candles in my windows up. They come on when it gets dark. Not as pretty as your colorful, fairy lights, but a little light to stave off the darkness. I enjoyed your trip to France, the castle and the cathedral. I love the eclectic china used in the cafe and that cake! Take care and Happy T Day

Hi Chris, just catching up and a wonderful post (came straight from the great journal page in previous post). Fabulous photos and Albi Cathedral is stunning inside and a lovely tea room, wouldn't know what to pick! Loved the end video - and you're tempting me to go out with that picture - ha ha!
