We returned from our caravan on Sunday and arranged to meet our son and granddaughter for lunch(grandson was out with friends - oh how quickly they grow up!)
We went to GD's choice of Coast to Coast that serves (what we in Britain think to be)traditional US food.
I had a lovely pulled pork sandwich(forgot to take any photos of our main courses) and then ordered a dessert for hubby and I to share - it came with custard…on this flat board - how would you have eaten it? I cut off my spoonsful of pie and dipped them in the custard - hubby ate the pie and then the custard!
If you want to take part in this sharing of drinks please do join Bleubeard and Elizabeth!
So….what about the rest of our trip? After waiting for Storm Doris to die down we arrived at our caravan on Thursday safely!
Friday morning was the most beautiful morning and the lambs were out in the field.
This one was taken on Saturday morning |
The view from the car park was great though..
We then took a trip to Rowantree Crafts where I bought new stamps and a stencil - did I take a photo? Nope! Sorry but I was so excited that I forgot until much later and now can only photograph the ones I bought! The display was fantastic!
After that we headed to Kirby Lonsdale for a walk by the river - we stopped at Gressingham Bridge to look at the height of the river - did I take a photo - Nope!…but hubby did!
Strangely the field across the other side of the river and one beyond that were full of swans |
The river was flowing very fast and quite high!
On to Kirby Lonsdale - the river here flows over rocks and again was flowing quickly - we saw snowdrops too!
We saw more swans on the banks of the river - what was the attraction of the grass?
Then we climbed the Radical Steps……and hubby though it would be fun to photograph me as I neared the top!
We walked through the graveyard...
I will have to try to remember to use my phone camera more!
Happy T Day and Thanks for looking, Chris

It looks luscious and green. I love it Chris. Great photo of you too. I've never had pie with a side of custard but I would gladly try it and most likely really enjoy it too. Happy T day. Hugs-Erika
oh what really gorgeous scenery-no wonder you look so happy! I would have eaten that yummy looking custard just as you have. Happy T day!
What lovely vistas Chris!
I got very excited about the lambs in the field and then you showed the meadow full of SWANS (be still my heart)!
The cemetery is lovely with the clumps of spring bulbs too.
I might have poured the custard on top of the pastry OR cut it and dipped it.
No rules hahaa...bet it was tasty.
Happy last T Day of February oxo
Happy T Day I really loved and enjoyed all the photos-thank you for sharing with us-beautiful area loved the swans-
Ha ha Chris, all those food and drink opportunities you missed! Love the photos from your trip though, gorgeous snowdrops, and amazing scenery. I wish they wouldn't put 'wet' food on flat boards like that. I just don't get it!
Thanks for sharing the wonderful photos of your weekend and walk. Looks like you got some good food, too. But pie and custard on a wooden board - that's strange. Main thing it tasted good. Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
What an amazing landscape and I love that photo of you . Never had or heard from something to eat but I would try it too. Happy T day.

Happy T Day Chris-always makes me happy to see your posts.
I am still laughing eating custard of a wooden board--someone must have told them it was trendy.
Absolutely wonderful photographs that made me feel as though I was there on the walk. Thank you for always sharing the wonders with us
Love Chrissie xx
Great post Chris - custard on a board! strange, but I think I'm with you on eating it.
Avril xx
Wonderful photos of your trip - it looks as though the countryside was refreshed by Storm Doris. Spring is really on the way, isn't it.
Looking forward to seeing what you get up to with those fab new stamps.

It looks like you had a lovely time on your travels, what could be better than seeing those wonderful views, walking in that marvellous scenery, meeting family and enjoying good food, even though you forgot to take photos ... tee hee! It seems that Spring is definately on its way :-). As for the pie, I would have made a hole in the middle and poured the custard in and probably made a complete mess to boot (grin!). Wishing you a very Happy T Day! J :-)
and a lovely day out was had by all - me included. Loved reading and seeing the photos, even if you did not take some.
As for the custard - the mystery remains - maybe you should go again and then ask?
Thanks for a lovely trip out whilst within my four walls.
Hugs, Neet xx
Chris I think I would have been asking for a plate, for me custard just has to be poured over the pie.
.Wonderful photos of your walk and the scenery.
Happy T Day.

Pulled pork? So can I assume BBQ has made it there? I think I feel at home there already ;)
Happy T Tuesday!
What a fun post, Chris. That's a lovely photo of you climbing the steps - smiling (where many would be huffing and puffing). I smiled back at you :D
The swans in the grassy area are quite puzzling, though the grass looks swampy.
Love your quirky new stamps! I hope you'll share what you make with them.
As for forgetting to take photos from time to time - it's better than hardly ever remembering. I'm not in the habit yet.
Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen
What an amazing adventure and such a beautiful place to visit.
Had to laugh about the camera......I'm so bad about forgetting to take pictures too!!
I love those new stamps.....they are costly here in the US.......but I catch them on sale from time to time.
Happy T-day
Oh what beautiful photos you are sharing.
I smiled at you continuously forgetting to take a picture! You're doing a 'me'!
How curious that there were so many swans about. I wonder what attracted them.
Do Boots do breakfast? O no, it's Booths. I misread.
Aren't those snowdrops beautiful! Come back next week and all the daffodils will be flowering too.
We are away too. (In our campervan). Have a lovely time.
Happy T-Day,
Lisca
Too funny... all the things you didn't take pictures of.. Well the things you did take pictures of are lovely...lol I'm not sure how i would have eaten that dessert... lol but it looks yummy nonetheless.. Awww you look pretty good after climbing all those steps.. i love to walk thru a grave yard.. haven't done it in years... hubby not so much... What a lovely graveyard too... Sorry i'm a little late Chris...turned out to be a busy day.. Happy happy T day! Hugs! deb
I feel horrible that it has taken me so long to visit. I'm not a very good host this week.
I keep my camera with me at all times, but I often forget to use it, too. So I totally understand your dilemma. I LOVED the photos you shared, bu have NEVER seen swans in a field before. That was a new one for me.
How would I eat the dessert? I would ask for another bowl, then split the dessert and pour my half of the custard over it. Then T could do as he pleased with his half. It looks good, though.
Thanks for sharing your gorgeous photos of the lambs and swans. as well as your dessert with us for T this Tuesday. It's still Tuesday in my world at least.
Such beautiful photos of the landscapes you visited :) That pie and custard does look delish too. Your craft haul looks like lots of fun and in particular that stencil. Once I get the hubby kicked out of the craft room I want to buy more stencils and stuff. It's just too crowded in here right now to even think of buying anything.
I would have used the custard as a dollop of "cream" on top of the pie. I'm sure there's no wrong way to eat that dessert. It would all be good. The scenery from your trip is so beautiful. Love the blues and greens of sky and grass. The swans are probably attracted to delicious bugs and slugs in the grass. Just a guess. My favorite picture is the graveyard. I love walking through cemeteries looking at the carvings on the stones. I especially love the very old stones that were carved by hand. Have a good week!
it´s always so nice to follow you on your road trips! especially now when nature awakens again...
have a good week!!
So fun to join you on your walks, love the photos! And delightful to see a pic of you too! The swans are so pretty, and snowdrops! Spring must be round the corner, at least I hope so. Happy T Day very late! ☕
What a lovely place you've been to my friend. It is an inspiring place. Love your photos. I might use one of them for a background. I will let you know which one and I will give you the credits for that. Much Love. Karla
