Pages for Valerie

I think I may have mentioned before how much I appreciate your encouragement but I would like to say it again! Thank you so much for visiting my blog and cheering me on - you make such a difference!

Time to show you the pages I made for Valerie, whose chosen theme was Birds…a favourite theme of mine and I should have found it easy..only thing was there were too many pages I wanted to make and had to limit myself to six!!

A gessoed and painted pice of card - Valerie likes this as a substrate. I wanted to make something using my favourite image - the Stamping Up Wetlands birds. I also wanted to add something about the RSPB. Hubby and I are members and regular visitors to Leighton Moss where the Avocet appears every year. I made an image transfer from the magazine we receive. I then sewed a little pocket to add the information.
On the back another image transfer mounted over some stamped feathers. At the bottom part of an old greeting card...
..to make a little flap..
..with two JOFY birds commenting on the price of bird food. I fussy cut them and mounted them onto some mop up paper. I have stopped counting how much I spend on food for the birds at the caravan!!

Painted, stencilled and doodled background. Lots of smudgy bits of paint added to the green. The bird image is a Hobby Arts one that is becoming a favourite! The flowers are mainly Prima, that I do have rather a lot of!! Mounted the bird on scraps of paper bags that were too pretty to throw away!
The peacock feather here was bought on an expedition to Clares Accessories with my GD when the sale was on - it was from an earring. The background started off as a large piece of paper that I used protect my desk - I added more metallic sprays and crumpled it up.
The stamped peacock was free with a magazine - the shimmery pens I used don't show up here - again mounted onto scraps. The little peacock had some alcohol ink added and some stick on gems. The Robbie Willams quote seemed appropriate!
This is a piece of black card with a slight shimmer to it. I added paint by using a 'credit' card. The circle paper is from a gelli plate session. I added the Crafty Individuals Quirky birds with Lindsay Mason's 'Squawk' looking on.
I wanted to make a simple page and this Paper Artsy bird on a branch from Sarah Naumann's ESN18 set was perfect. I added some morning colours at the top and the words 'From Morning Has Broken' Valerie always has such wonderful photos on her blog of both the skies and the birds around where she lives!
The Gazetteer page that I have used has the town near where Valerie lives and also London suburbs that she knows.

I added a tag that has details of the swap
The envelope was also decorated - confession here Valerie.. the wood effect at the side is covering some smudges!!
A Woodware bird
The geese are from Lavinia stamps and the plants are from various sources.
I am pleased to say that Valerie liked her pages!

Thanks for looking at this scheduled post(guess where we are…)Chris

You made some gorgeous pages Chris. I love all your bird images. And your envelope is great. Those geese are a fabulous image- a stamp maybe? You have some great bird stamps in your collection. Glad you shared these. Hugs-Erika

Absolutely incredible pages, Chris. I especially liked the bird on the envie, too. Seems like Valerie is getting a bunch of peacocks. I didn't realize how popular they would become.

LOVE the tape transfers. They have a special look to them. I was really impressed with everything, and I'm SO glad you joined this swap.
