Its snowing…and T is for TIOT

Well, actually we seem to be having more rain than ANY other sort of weather, but our new theme at Try It On Tuesday - 'Snow, snowflakes or Winter whites!' is all about the white stuff! All the details are over on the TIOT blog along with some fabulous examples from the rest of the team!
I love white on Kraft so I used a Kraft card and stamped my Inkadinkadoo swirly snowflakes on to some Kraft paper that had some song words stamped in Wendy Vecchi Potting Soil archival ink.
I used Ranger Perfect medium and embossed using white embossing powder.

More words stamped onto a torn piece of card and then the sentiment added using WV PS ink again. I added some pearly flowers that I think look like snowflakes(OK - a bit!)and finally added some  Stampendous Frantage - Shabby White embossing enamel to the snowflake and around the corners.
Of course, today being Tuesday it's also time for T over at Elizabeth and Bluebeard's blog The Altered Booklover.
Hubby and I went out for a walk last Friday, only thing is we had to call in for petrol and then found ourselves in a traffic jam
We went to Styal Mill - one of our favourite places, but by the time we got there the mill was shut and the garden that we love so much had been shut because of the windy weather.
So we went for a drink….

…and a scone because we had only had a small lunch!Hubby had tea and jam and cream with his scone, I had a filter coffee and butter with mine.
The cafe had been decorated.
The photos on the wall are of staff at the end of the 1800s and 2012.

It was getting dark outside and there were only 6 people in the cafe…..and a few gingerbread men!
When we left I took a view from the outside

We walked up past the mill and back to the carpark by the longest route.

A big contrast from when we went in the Summer!
I'll see over at Elizabeth's - please bring your drink with you!!

I hope you will take a look at the Try It On Tuesday challenge (and maybe join in!)the team will certainly put you in a Christmassy mood!

Thanks for looking, Chris.

I have fallen in love with using kraft cards too once I got used to the idea. Your card is so beautiful! I hope to join in if I can get something completed for the new challenge. Your treat at the café looks so good. I love scones! What a difference a season makes when you revisit a place. Still nice though. Happy T day Chris!

I've never owned any kraft paper, although it looks like brown paper bags to me. I can certainly see the appeal. The whites show up beautifully against it. This is a gorgeous card, albeit, a bit too bulky to mail, I fear.

There's no way you got that yet. I mailed it the day after I mailed Halle's big gift. Simply amazing. As I was heading out the door to the PO, I saw I had not written my return address. You can see how bad my handwriting is when I'm in a hurry and my fingers are cold. And to think, I used to have lovely handwriting.

Your walk was incredible. I loved the place you stopped, and that is MY kind of drink, too. I'd give anything to have a real scone like my grandmother used to make. I think I miss her melt-in-your-mouth scones and her incredibly flaky pie crust more than anything.

Thanks for sharing your lovely card, your walk around Styal Mill, the gingerbread decorations, and the great scones and coffee that bring back so many memories of when I was growing up for T this Tuesday.

Lovely lunch in such a cozy setting :) I like your snow piece. I particularly like the textures you've shown, and I'm always impressed by your compositions. When I put things together they tend to look like I pitched things at a surface lol

Lovely snowflake card Chris. I too, like them on craft paper.
The scones look yummy, but I'm trying to stay away from anything with white or wheat flour these days......but those would sure be tempting....LOL
Love the view looking IN!!
Happy T-day

I have been there too. It's such a wonderful place especially as the mill still produces fabric.
Very restrained Chris - not having cream.

Wonderful card Chris and looks very effective and great for the challenge prompt. Sorry for not having been around lately. I think the mill you visited is the one I am reading about at the moment. Was it a series on tv?

What a wonderful card. I don't do much stamping and have never embossed a thing but I sure appreciate the art done with those bits. You walk looks lovely, kind of nice to be out at dusk and see the lights on.

Especially love the white snowflakes stamp you used. So pretty!
The picture of the olden days staff was the best! Sounds like you managed to have a good time even if you were cut off from your original plans. Happy T-Day! :)

Your white snowflake on kraft paper makes a gorgeous card!! I love snow themes, and the dimension of your card is stunning... but driving in the stuff-not so much.(grin) Lovely outing for tea and scones...it looks like a cozy place. happy belated T day!

I love white on kraft too and this is a gorgeous example. Beautiful snowflakes and delicious texture. Tea looks delicious too... well, I'd join you on the coffee rather than tea, but you know what I mean. There's nothing like a good old-fashioned industrial mill... how great would it be to have some workspace in one like this?!

I love brown and white with a bit of glitz. I also loved your pictures. I adore the United Kingdom and really wish I lived there. Maybe my husband and I can go back for a proper visit. So many of my favorite crafting ladies live in the United Kingdom. I will have tea with plenty of clotted cream and a touch of strawberry jam please!
