My final few Gelli prints!

There's a lot going on again here! I am getting  ready for a workshop tomorrow at Rowan Tree Craft with the extremely talented Tracey Easson!

As you know I loved taking part in the Gelli Plate challenge that Brigit Koopsen hosted!I just realised that I hadn't posted the final five!

I learned so much and I do know that I will never leave my Gelli-plates tucked away in drawer again!
I have enlarged my favourites.

Day 27 - Cardboard
So many ways to use a piece of corrugated card

I made two combs and made quite a few different patterns

Loved this and saw so many other brilliant examples!

Day 30 Water Soluble crayons

I wasn't so happy with the prints on the copy paper I was using but when I saw a tip from someone else who had the same results, I switched to watercolour paper.

Day 31 Primary colours

Although I like the prints I made I did see lots of others with much brighter results so need to practice more - what a great excuse and I still want to try making image transfers with my gelli plate!

Journalling again!

We seem to be having a busy time lately! Nothing awful thank goodness - just jobs needing doing and yesterday we had an invitation to the cinema with my son and grandchildren which we followed with a meal out too!
We went to see Ready Player One which I enjoyed more than I expected to!

I have found some time to make some pages for Art Journal Journey and Alison's Collage and Recycle theme!

I use a combination of Paper Artsy Infusions for the background and then added some bits and pieces, including part of a napkin, a scrap of designer paper, some bits cut from magazine and calendar pages that I seem to have been saving for quite a while. There's also a label from some garden lanterns we bought last year. I added some random stamping and piece of tissue tape.

Recycle Something for us at TIOT

Hi everyone! Our new theme at Try It On Tuesday is 'Recycle Something' but for me it could easily be - 'Confessions of a Hoarder'!
Hubby often comes to me before putting something in the bin and even my grown up children pass on things they know I will class as useful not junk!!

I have been taking part in Brigit Koopsen's Gelli Plate challenge during March and have a lot of prints to use in my crafting! The larger ones are no problem - they go into a plastic box with other large prints, but the small ones were in danger of getting lost amongst my scraps.

I am sure that some of you will spot what I have chosen for my recycle makeover!

We seem to have a lot of these packets arrive!!! I realised that one of them would be an ideal size to hold my small gelli-prints.

While I was using up some of the gelli prints (some are rejects - but hey, guess what - I just couldn't throw them away!)I decided to make a container for my scissors too.

I collaged pieces straight onto the packet but measured out a piece of paper to collage onto for the coffee container.

I used my AALL and Create Scissor stamp that I bought at Rowan Tree Crafts the other week.

I stamped them onto thick paper and fussy cut them - this is the same stamp cut down although I do have my eyes on a smaller set!
The cutting words are printed out on my computer.

On the back I masked off the scissors to stamp them.

For the pot I sprinkled on some silver embossing powder as randomly as I could as I still wanted some black showing....and then stuck the paper onto the tin. 

....and I used the rest of the words.

Finally I punched a couple of holes to thread some sari silk through.

The DT have been really creative with their projects so I hope you will take a look here.

As usual the TIOT challenge runs for two weeks so this will close on  16th April. I am already wondering what you will choose to recycle!

My good friend Elizabeth will also be recycling her way towards (B)Earthday on the 22nd April!

T Stands for ........trip in the new car!!!

Hi everyone! When we found that our old car was going to cost so much to repair we decided it was time to buy a new one! In fact we decided on a NEW new one!!!It is a Panda like our old one but a much nicer colour!

It does have lovely aroma inside!!

We went up to our caravan for a few days - the weather wasn't brilliant but we went out to the RSPB for a walk on Saturday and then to Sizergh Castle on Sunday!
The gardens are really waking up now!

From the garden we went up to the woodland walk..

On the way back to the caravan we passed a hill with deer on! They are often too far away to take photos but this time we were really glad we stopped!

Just as we were walking away I noticed that they were heading  towards the river so we rushed back! 

They formed an orderly queue to get into the river having stood there for a while contemplating!!

They started  eating after shaking themselves!

 I don't know why they didn't all cross - there was a small group left!

The stags all just lay down in the grass!

Now it is time to join Bleubeard and Elizabeth for T Stands For Tuesday.

Over the weekend we have had several drinks or meals out and I forgot to take photos of any of them, so I will take you back to March when we met up with my youngest son for lunch at Moose in town.

This is my French toast ham and cheese sandwich and as you can see we had water to drink!

I am now quite tired, so if you will excuse me I will visit after a sleep!

Second on the 2nd

Once again a month has whizzed by and it's time to join Bleubeard and  Elizabeth with repost of something you may or may not have seen before!

I have a memory of a lovely day in 2103!

Sarah's Secrets
Saturday 13th April 2013
Yesterday I spent the morning with my lovely friend Sarah of Art Of Moodling to do some journaling together. Sarah has signed up for 21 Secrets so I chose a number and it turned out to be  the amazing Kate Crane whose workshop we attended together a while ago! 
Clever Sarah took photographs as we went along so if you would like to see more take a look at her blog - in fact, I heartily recommend it, as you will see that we have ended up with such totally different pages! Sarah's reflects more of the kind of fun that we had whereas mine (I think) reflects our views on having and teaching children.

As you can see I'm no artist but I could see two spaces that were waiting for figures in them. Should I cut out from a magazine? or maybe draw then cut out my own(if it didn't look right then back to plan a)? Ummed and aahed then decided to just go for it! I mixed some Paper Artsy fresco paint to make a face then drew in hair etc using various pens. 
The quote is one I heard on a teaching seminar somewhere along the way and has somehow stuck - the thought being, that every child is different and although they need inspiration, advice and guidance they should be encouraged to think for themselves! 
We had a great time getting inky and catching up so Thank you Sarah for a such a lovely fun morning!

We have just returned from our caravan where it has been quite grey but we managed couple of walks!

April love - journal and calendar pages!

Happy Easter to all of you!

As most of you know - I love Paris, I love flowers and I love my husband and my calendar journal spread for this month connects all three! 

We are going to visit Paris this month and will be away for his birthday! I have also used some Carabelle Studio stamps by one of my favourite stamp designers - Azoline who lives in Paris and I think loves flowers as much as I do!

Here is a pic of my March spread - not quite filled in as I won't be near my computer on the 1st!

As its Easter Day I also have an Easter journal page for you!

Alison has a great theme for this month at Art Journal Journey - Collage or Recycle.
I have used a magazine image that has been in my scraps for a while now. I used some paper that has been lining a box I use for spray inking - whenever I change it I tear off any bits that look interesting. The tape at the bottom is like an image transfer from a plastic lid that I use as paint palette - it worked great on some blue and metallic paint that had dried on it.

The background also uses some paint that hadn't quite been used up so I spread it on my page with a baby wipe and added a bit of random music stamping.
The stamps are Paper Artsy Elena Zinski ones - I coloured the circles gold and added a little bit of doodling too!

Finally I added the quote which is part of a quote from an old Paper Artsy Squiggle Ink set that I 'found' while reorganising my stamps!

I wish everyone a Happy Easter, a day to be celebrated for sure!
