Journal pages on the second!

Warning - I may ramble…..!

My calendar journal was ready yesterday but I wasn't!

We went for a New years Day walk with son and grandchildren - although the walk didn't quite turn out how we intended! Watches were synchronised and we set off at the appointed time, heading up hill on quite bumpy roads towards Rivington Pike, info here, which I'm sure many of you know as being a fantastic viewpoint for looking out over the Manchester area!
I do have some old photos but can't find them, these are from the internet

Unfortunately, son who is a regular visitor to the Pike, took the wrong turn and we sat getting colder by the minute waiting for him! By this time I needed a loo - a walk back in the opposite direction to the Pike, so while hubby walked back with me we told the others to go on ahead and we would meet up with them! Not easy as we thought and we didn't meet until we were all back at our cars!!
It doesn't look it, but by this time it was getting dark - and very cold!
Then it was off to Franky and Benny's where hubby and I had refillable coffees and some bread and dips(too early for a full meal and my medication)and the others had some yummy food!

My journal pages

I would like to link to Art Journal Journey where Chrissie has chosen a brilliant theme - Winter Wonderland.
I used a bit of leftover waste as a stencil over the whole page and drew the trees using a water brush and my Inktense pencils. Drew on some 'snow' with a Signo white pen then spattered with gesso for a snowier effect. The journal squares are from another piece of Gelli print snowflakes.

Today of course, being the 2nd of the Month, is time to link to Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog(I haven't forgotten you Squiggles, I know you are there too!)

My second look on the 2nd comes from two years ago

The original is here and was posted on 6th January 2013
            ……………………………………….…..

Time to take down the decorations!
...well, as my background - I took down the decorations in the flat yesterday, not wanting to tempt fate by leaving them up beyond Twelfth Night!I hope you like the background which a piece of needle felting I did last year.

I have been doing some journaling - mainly on my knee in front of the tv while we do some catching up on recorded Christmas tv!
This was started following a walk at Holker Hall before Christmas - I think you may get the picture(we turned back!!)
This background was re-hashed a couple of times before I was happy with it and I drew the face and added the clock and the title (a Sandy Denny classic!)this year!!!
                       ……………………………………..
On Boxing Day 2015 hubby took this photo of the weir - if you can spot it
The island had disappeared
By the 30th the geese were trying to get back onto the island

If you are still here I would like to wish you the best of everything this coming year!

Thanks for looking, Chris

Lovely memories for me in your photographs Chris. It is well over 65 years ago that we first found Rivington Pike when it was still,in a wild state and a bit daring to actually visit the place at all..our children were very young but loved to find new paths and even tiled ones in parts. So pleased it is still there to be enjoyed.

Looks to be a lot of water around hope more isn't on the way..

Happy 2016 to you and your family

Love Chrissie xx

I took my decorations down today, feels like a fresh start with new art materials waiting for me to cheer the place up a bit. Happy New Year, and hope the water recedes soon.

Ramble all you like, Chris. I have no trouble following along. After all, it's like talking to a friend who jumps conversations as easily as I.

I took my decorations down on the 27th. I just couldn't wait any longer. Wanted to do it on the 26th, but had a bit of company, so left them one more day. I love both journal pages and really, really love the buck.

This is what I mean by putting my calendar pages to SHAME. I swear, yours always look like they could go in an art magazine.

You are making me hungry with thoughts of yummy food in a unique setting. Speaking of settings, that river looked vicious. I'd hate to get caught in it. Not only fast, but cold looking, too. I hope the rains have stopped for awhile, and I see the water has receded a bit so at least part of the island is back.

Thanks for sharing your calendar and your Second on the 2nd post with us. And of course, I wish you the best of everything this year, too.

Exciting post to read first thing this morning Chris!
Thinking of you all and missed connections.
That kind of waiting seems to take lots longer than just passing time that's for sure.
Your January calendar page is so lovely I would have trouble writing on it.
Fun to see your journal pages from before we 'met'.
And you needle felt too (we have so much in common!)
I keep 'thinking' about doing some machine felting but my art cave is in chaos and I can't quite get to the chair LOL (oops I've said too much!)
Happy New Year! (I have been a bit unplugged with my Mr at home).

Happy New Year Chris! I enjoyed seeing your lovely calendar pages and the reading about your walk.

I really like your journal pages--creating in front of TV is a great idea.

My decorations are still up, but today may just be the day!

So many good things in this post and also so much water-which isn't so good for some many people. The flooding is quite bad from all the photos I have seen. Glad you managed not to get flooded and glad you didn't have to spend the whole night waiting for your son-even if you did get cold it could have been worse I am sure. Love your calendar journal pages too!

Of course I'm still here!!!!
The beauty of the January calendar page, this is too fabulous to write on! I love the wintry feel that you perfectly captured.
Isn't it true about time! When I was young it was something I would hear often from older relatives. Well here I am, I seem to say it all the time and I'm only in my 40s LOL.
The wind is howling and rain battering the window. It seems as though this rain is never going to stop. Then again, so long as we stay safe and no flooding, I'll count myself lucky.
Happy New Year Wishes
Lynne

Sounds as though your extended ramble could have gone very wrong, but I'm glad you all managed to meet up again in the end. Scary flood pics though.

The calendar pages are looking great - those watercolour pine trees look absolutely wonderful. And a great flashback too (I've had one of those this week!)...
