Butterflies at TIOT

Hi everyone, our new theme at Try It On Tuesday is  'Butterflies' and there's such a variety to choose from.

I hope you will pop over to see what my teamies have been making - here.

I have made another card - I've been making quite a few just lately - you may be able to guess why!

I used tape to mask off a 'square' and then stamped a Crafty Individuals script stamp with Archival Watering can added some spritzed Hickory Smoke Distress Ink from an acrylic block. I removed the tape and then added some fussy cut butterflies from another CI stamp
(Oh! There's a clue!)

The Sentiment is also CI.

Did you think I had managed a CAS card without a mishap? The yellow butterfly bottom right is covering a tiny mark - there had to be one!!

I hope you will join us at Try It On Tuesday this time. Please look at the few rules we have on the blog

Thanks for looking, Chris

Typing........

Hi everyone, I don't seem to have had much time for blogging or indeed much else. We have been out a few times, some for pleasure some for necessity but we have almost caught up with everything.

First I have a journal page for Art Journal Journey and Elle of 'Empire Of The Cat's 'Language' theme.

I have had the magazine image of the QWERTY keyboard in my scrap box for a while and I remembered using a French keyboard in a hotel managers office some time ago - the keyboard wasn't a great deal different but it was noticeable, when I came across this image again I looked up some info on Wikipedia.

The QWERTY keyboard was devised by an American, Christopher Sholes when he found that by using the original keyboard design on typewriters it caused some most used letter combination keys to jam so he separated them on his design and that's the way it's been ever since (with a few minor adjustments)

However, there are many different keyboard layouts all over the World that are more appropriate to the language of the country (Scandinavia, France, Romania, Malta to name a few) Here's the link to the Wikipedia information.

I started my page by stamping a Carabelle Studio random letter stamp on my page on both black and red, I then added some larger letters with an Aall and Create stamp. Next I rubbed on some red paint with a baby wipe.
I added some stencilling with an Aall and Create squares stencils and stamped more squares with a co-ordinating stamp.
I also added parts of a World map with an old Aladine foam stamp.

The typewriter is a favourite from Crafty Individuals and I layered the images with torn piece of note paper from my desk.

Finally the word QWERTY was stamped and coloured in and each letter outlined to represent keys.

We are still finishing week 20 of our Wanderlust pages and week 21 is started but here are our pages from Week 19(you may have seen them on Instagram already)

Thanks for looking, Chris

T Stands for The Mill

Hi everyone, we have had some luck with the weather recently and managed a few visits between the heavy showers we have been having ...even got some sunshine!!

Last week we went to Styal Mill, our first visit since last October.

I think I may have taken a few photos!!!!

The walk from the carpark to the entrance
I love to see Hawthorn Blossom (or May as my Mum used to call it) I used to walk home from school by huge hedges of this - the smell was amazing. In early Spring when the leaf shoots were just forming my brother and I would eat the very young shoots as 'Bread and Cheese'(another name for this plant)
I

We are still not allowed access to the greenhouses
It's here where we stopped to drink the coffee we bought at the cafe and where I will link to 'The Altered Book Lover' blog where Bleubeard and Elizabeth welcome you and invite you to share something drink related for 'T Stands For Tuesday'.

Looking forward to seeing the Sweet Peas grow

The path to the steps is still closed

The Iris will be flowering soon
Some gates to the lower garden are open - here the cafe is in the background
We still took the longer route..
....to see these views

I have seen Pink Bleeding Hearts but never seen these white ones.
The ropes have gone!!!
This has roots going into the rock..
....and is smiling about it!

More steps open

There weren't many folk around at all....
...but there was a group of people on our favourite seat

Pan playing his pipes

Standing almost inside this Rhododendron

Sorry, I am slightly obsessed by it!

Heading back to the car - the walk way is the entrance to the Mill
From the top - I am getting up these much more quickly these days.

The rusty mill shaft is still there
The pond by the carpark.

Finally I have an answer about the pic hubby took at Lyme Park(in my previous post to this one)
It is Manchester, the tall buildings (Deansgate Square) in the centre are now some of the tallest (more are being built that will go higher) The tall building on the right is the Beetham Tower, once the tallest in Manchester and houses the Hilton Hotel on the lower half of the building.
So far these are the only ones I can identify.

Thanks for looking.
I'll be back with a Wanderlust catch up soon.
