Hi everyone, as you can see our new topic at Try It On Tuesday is 'Halloween'. I'm not a great fan of Halloween, I did quite like it when it was fun but not so scary. Over the years it seems that the merchandise in the shops has taken a rather more gory turn.
My teamies may have entered into the spirit if Halloween more than I but I hope you like my journal page
I doodled some squares onto the edge of the page but they looked a bit lost so I added some stripy wash tape.
The centre of the page has some ink that reminds me of the murky yellowy night skies we get on the edge of Manchester.
I found magazine images of some grey trees and roof tops and so the scene was set for my Tim Holtz cat waiting to be picked up by his witch.
Our theme at Try It On Tuesday runs for two weeks, I will be prepared to be spooked by your entries!
I'm also adding this to Art Journal Journey for Tracey's 'My favourite Colour is Autumn'
Thanks for looking, Chris
LOVE your art journal page Chris! That striped washi tape just sets off those grids! And that cityscape and trees are just awesome!!! And of course, that cat! LOVE it! Have a Happy Halloween... ((HUGS)) Helen
ReplyDeleteHalloween is my favorite holiday, but like you I like more spooky than gory. I think you captured that feeling on your page.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fabulous Halloween page! I love your design, the way you used the magazine pages is amazing and the black cat is perfect with it's arched back and green eyes 😀. Thanks for the inspiration and wishing you a wonderful week! Hugs Jo x
ReplyDeleteThis is such a clever take on Halloween Chris. One thing I love about challenges is seeing how other people interpret them, and yours is great. I love how you made the sky and the cat on the rooftops. Very cool my friend. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteFabulous journal page, Chris, looks nicely spooky! Very cool. Our sky was that colour today. Have a great week, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI love your Halloween page Chris! Your doodling and washi tape look awesome on the grid paper and that TH cat on the rooftops is so cute, love the eyes!

Oh Chris, your journal page is just perfect. I love that cat with his arched back and to put him on the rooftops is just brilliant. A truly different and fantastic page.

I know how you feel about Halloween, but I sure like the journal page you created. It's a fun and quirky page that is absolutely perfect for Tracey's theme at AJJ, too. Gotta LOVE that crazy cat.
ReplyDeleteReally love the collage Chris, it rises like smoke from those chimney tops. I'm with you regarding Halloween but I quite enjoy the left over candy hee hee..
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining me again @ AJJ, it's a wonderful take on October.
Take care Hugs Tracey x
A fabulous page Chris, very atmospheric with the murky sky and silhouette roof tops, just perfect for your menacing cat.
ReplyDeleteLoved seeing the photos from your trip in the previous post, looks like you had a good time.

Very fun Halloween themed page, Chris. I love the eerie feel of the sky and papers, and that cat is super cool. I am reading a Catwoman book my Grandson picked out for me and this reminds me of it - so cool! Hugz
