We have spent some time this afternoon watching the Winter Olympics -hubby went shopping when the figure skating came on and back in time to find me welling up over the Canadian ice dancers Alex and Maia Shibutani, who were dancing so beautifully to the soundtrack of one of my favourite films - Moulin Rouge.
I have a new page, which I made once I was feeling better after my rest!
It was made, apart from the distress ink background, using some of the bits and pieces I 'found' in my craft room! The squirrel stamp is from some packs I bought a few years ago in France from Noz(a bargain shop)near to where our friends live. The words are Tim Holtz ideaology clippings.
I will link to Art Journal Journey for Rike's theme 'Animals from A to Z'.
While we were away at our caravan last week we went into Morecambe for lunch at the Rotunda - one of favourite places, so of course it is here I will join Bleubeard and Elizabeth for T Stands for Tuesday!
Our priority was a hot drink, as we had walked to the shoe shop across the road first of all!
Slightly disappointing, as they use to make the very best Mochas, but mine came and it was almost like a Hot Chocolate, Hubby had a Latte.
The food was still excellent though!
Hubby just couldn't wait to start his Chicken burger, which we both chose!
He laughed at me trying to get an arty shot of the food!
Afterwards we went for a brisk walk along the jetty, you can see the Rotunda cafe on the left of the Midland Hotel building.
Not sure whether this was washed up or abandoned!
There was an angling competition in progress - but not many were successful in catching anything!
There is lots of art relating to birds along the jetty(as there are in other parts of Morecambe too)
Some of them are games to play.
I love these giant eggs..
..and the cormorant statue is my favourite..
Hubby got a great shot of the birds on the shore...
...and of the snow over on the mountains in the Lake District.
I got this cold looking shot of the sky reflected in the calm water...
..and as we were leaving a beautiful reflection of the sunHappy T Day everyone! Hoping to be able to get to visit earlier this week!
Thanks for calling by, Chris
I totally love your squirrel page!, enjoyed all the photos too, and now I am hungry for french fries-those look so good right now. I usually keep a big bag of them in the freezer and I am out.
ReplyDeleteHappy T Day and I am glad you were able to get a walk in. I am enjoying the Olympics this time around allot too-those Canada skaters are really good-I think they should win the gold
OOh so much to take in here! I saw the ice skating-and yes, they were just brilliant!! Love your journal page , but I'm not so fond of squirrels at the moment as they are testing my patience going at (or attempting) my bird feeders. You and hubby sure do get to enjoy many good meals out together, and he looks like he's getting pretty comfortable with the photos:) Happy T day!
ReplyDeleteYour journal page is lovely! I love all that texture...and of course that squirrel steals the show. I had to laugh because my hubby would gladly go shopping if it meant he didn't have to watch figure skating. He calls it girly. Maybe our hubbies have something in common. ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy Tea Day,
Kate
You make me want to be there! I am so envious! Thank you for sharing the lovely photos of your lovely day! I love, love your journal page, too! And you made me hungry too, because that food looks so great! Happy T Day!
ReplyDeletewhat amazing shots in Morecombe, love the bird sculptures and those eggs are fab! your burgers look fab!
ReplyDeleteWhat an impressive and beautiful page you created for Rike's animal theme. I believe the squirrels in my neighborhood have hibernated, because I haven't seen one in ages. I really enjoyed this one, though, and the added texture you created on the page. Thank you for sharing it with us at Art Journal Journey.
ReplyDeleteI always LOVE it when you visit Morecombe and the Rotunda cafe. It's a beautiful place, with loads of fun things to see, including the beautiful bird art you shared. SO enjoyed seeing T with his drink and burger. And I'm also now hungry for fries/chips. You COULD have saved me some (grin)! Thanks to both you and T for sharing your food and drinks, along with your lovely photos in and around Morecombe, with us for T this Tuesday, dear Chris.
Love your journal page with the squirrel. Sorry you didn't feel well. Your trip to Morecombe looked great, thanks for sharing the lovely photos. The food looked great, too. Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteA beautiful page with a fabulous background, lovely details and quote, and the cute squirrel looks like jumping out of the picture in the next moment - so much movement!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed all your fantastic photos, especially the bird statues of course (animals!) - the cormorant statue photo is my favourite too!
Thank you for linking this absolutely wonderful entry to Art Journal Journey!
And Happy T Day!
Rike x
The page with the squirrel looks beautiful Chris, a gorgeous background as well.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos from your walk, the sculptures looked fantastic, there are so many wonderful artists these days that don't get publicity they deserve in other parts of our country.
I hope you are feeling better today.
Happy T day wishes.
Yvonne xx
I saw your name and said I've got to see where we will go this week. You didn't disappoint Chris. Your chicken burger looks yummy, and wow I just love the photos of the shore. Nice bird statues, they are really cool, and I bet it was nice getting outside and enjoying the day. I need to retire to have a life outside of work. (2 years and I am starting the count!) Happy T day. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteWow, your squirrel page is amazing! I love the background you created and the beautiful red squirrel postage stamp with the leftover bits and pieces - perfect 😁. The words you used are just wonderful too! I loved walking along the beachfront at Morecambe with you too, those cormorant statues are stunning! I think I will have to go there to see them myself one day very very soon and visit that lovely cafe too 😉. I hope you are feeling better and wishing you the happiest of T Days Chris! J 😊

OH MY GAWD, SQUIRRRELLLLL!! How much do I love this page Chris! Look at that little guy, how adorable! Lovely splattery background too!! Go Canadians, yay! Your hubby was probably right to keep you inside, better to be safe, right. Amazing photographs, such a beautiful view and I love all of those bird statues! sending hugs :)
ReplyDeleteAww, your squirrel looks so cute. I love the page and all the elements you used. Plus I like how you arranged them. It's a very pleasing balance.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of Morcambe. The sea bird sculptures on the rocks are striking.
I get a kick out of you and hubby having fun over the photos for our t-parties. He's such a good sport.

ReplyDeleteYour art is great although I'm with Linda on the squirrel sentiments right now. :-/ Not on my list of favorable critters at all!
ReplyDeleteSome really amazing photos you've shared today too. That sunset on the water is breath taking ♥
Happy T Day!
Carol
What a lovely day with gorgeous photos. Hope you’re feeling better xx
ReplyDeleteI forgot to mention I need to do a bit of cheering and bragging for the home team. Liberal, Kansas (about 100 miles to the west of Wichita) beat Olney, Buckinghamshire today in the annual pancake race. The two cities battle it out each year, except I think it was last year there was something wrong with the score keeping. According to http://olneypancakerace.org/,
ReplyDeleteLiberal has now won it 38 times compared to Olney's 29. Go LIBERAL (grin).
I had completely forgotten about it until you mentioned it on my blog and I saw it on the local news today while fighting to stay off the toilet. Yes, I have been very sick from something I ate last night.
the squirrel page is cute. I have one, little red squirrel that I see in my yard. Mostly just have the grey squirrels. I'm not a coffee fan so the hot chocolate sounded good to me. That is some sandwich and a generous portion of chips. I love chips. Himself makes fun of me when I try to arrange a photo for the blog. The jetty looks cold, but I love all your photos. The sun and the sky reflections are awesome. Happy T Day
ReplyDeleteit is good i just had breakfast, otherwise you would have made me very hungry now:) this squirrel stamp is so beautiful, you made a wonderful journaling page. and you spoil us with a lot of photos that want me to be there! oh, and i love the shadow photo!
ReplyDeletehave a great week! ♥
Your squirrel page is lovely in its simplicity. Sometimes less is more.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the photos, especially of the bird statues. The winter scenery made me shiver. Britain in winter is not nice.
I'm glad you are feeling better now although you missed your walk.
I don't watch the Olympics for the simple reason that we have no tv. But my mother keeps me up to date about how well the Dutch speed skaters are doing.
Happy Valentine's Day
and a belated happy T-Day,
Lisca
Love your squirrel page Chris! And great photos. Been so wet and miserable here this week, I miss my walking.
ReplyDeleteHappy T-Day! xx
We've been enjoying the Olympics, too :) That food looks delicious. I like that walkway with so many benches where you can sit and enjoy the scenery. And oh, what wonderful scenery! I'm impressed by the art. Such a nice variety! Happy late T Day :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful composition on that gently lovely page, and so fantastic to see all that beautiful artwork outdoors. I love it, and have a whole Pinterest board devoted to art outdoors and land-art, to which I'm going to add those stunning cormorants. Thanks for sharing your walk.
