I had started something for Sheila's 'Let's Celebrate' theme but just couldn't face either my craft table or the computer!(although I did try!)
At this time of year our caravan bird table is often full, as are the trees and hedges - I haven't been there for a while but my neighbours also feed the birds so I know they won't be going hungry and Mr and Mrs Blackbird still have lots of berries to feast on!
This page is in my Kraft journal, PA Fresco paint roughly spread over the page, book paper with some texture paste and Glamour dust. PA Kim Dellow and Hot Pick stamps for my garden and some Hobby Art birds.
Now to return to Val de Grace church (which is where we went to see - the Military hospital was a bonus!) and through that door…(see last week)
…and through the small door here.
The organist was practicing behind another metal mesh!
We spotted this bike and little carriage as we headed out of the building.
We walked towards the gate on the left to be allowed out the way we had entered.
We were there for just over two and a half hours - not nearly enough time to see everything but it was getting late and I needed food (well, my Diabetes demanded that I eat!)
We walked along the road, aware that most places had finished serving lunch - we were lucky to come across a Turkish restaurant still serving and what a great meal it was!
Chicken kebab with salad, potatoes and couscous
Our drink was water and I am joining Bleubeard and Elizabeth for T Stands For Tuesday where you are invited to share a drink related post!
Where next? Poitiers I think, where we interrupted our journey to come here!
Thanks for looking, Chris
First of all, I love your celebration page-those leaves are so red. And what a gorgeous church. I'm glad you shared those photos. The work it took to make such place must have been amazing. I've never eaten Turkish food but it looks delicious. Do those exercises the doctor gave you please and happy T day.
ReplyDeleteYour AJJ journal page is lovely. And the photos of the church are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHappy T day!
Wonderful photos, what a fantastic place. Love the journal page, too. And the food looks great, just yummy. Your hubby looks happy with it! Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeletethose birds on your page are fabulous! Glad you've recovered now.
ReplyDeleteThe photos from Val de Grace church are fantastic - but don't those wire meshes get in the way!!
I love your AJJ bird page. The birds on the table look so happy and the other one is going to have a little snack of berries while he is waiting for his turn at the take-away. It's a lovely scene. Thanks very much for the Celebration of birds.
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling better now, being dizzy is not fun.
And thanks for the tour of the church, that must have been a great experience.
Love the bird celebration. I just filled my front feeder with seeds this morning. The artwork in the church is breath-taking.Your hubby is such a good sport to let you take his picture and lunch looks delicious. do you mean the restaurants close after serving lunch and then reopen to serve dinner? Here you can pretty much go to any restaurant and have a late lunch or early dinner. Have a Happy T Day!
ReplyDeleteGoodness, dear friend. I hope you are much better today. I always worry when you get dizzy like that.
ReplyDeleteYour darling little birds were really throwing a party and that was great cause for celebration at Art Journal Journey. So glad you finished this because it's a genuine beauty. Thanks for joining us at AJJ, because this is fabulous.
Although I could have stayed at the military hospital museum all day, the Val de Grace church was stunning. The statues were incredible, and the shot from the alter was gorgeous. The floor tiles were also out of this world.
What a feast you managed to step into by accident. Can you imagine that you would have chosen this place had it not been one of the only places left to serve lunch? It looks fabulous, and I LOVE couscous, too. I'm a big fan of Turkish food, but have never seen it fixed with potatoes before. It certainly looked like something I would eat (grin).
Thanks for sharing your wonderful Art Journal Journey entry, your visit to Val de Grace church, and your meal with water at the Turkish restaurant with us for T this Tuesday.
It is a fabulous celebration page, I'm sure birds must enjoy the food we put out for them in winter, it was a fun party page.
ReplyDeleteThe church photos looked awesome, fabulous carving, makes you wonder how long it took to build these churches when they had no access to our modern tools.
The food looked delicious today.
I hope you are feeling a bit better now.
Happy T day wishes.
Yvonne xx

Glad to hear you took the necessary rest time, and I hope things have settled down properly by now. The bird page is really charming - the snowy field and lovely blended colours in the background and those wonderful birds. Certainly looks as though it was well worth the 3 hour round trip to visit that amazing church and eat those delicious looking kebabs!
