Snow!

Hmm! Still none here…only on my journal page! I hope that the snow isn't too bad where you are.
I can't remember what I had in mind for this page, but it has been sitting in my journal for a while and was very turquoise!
I used white paint with a mask I bought at Port Sunlight and some extra white by using a pen.
I then decided to add an altered photo of some snowdrops, used texture paste around the edges and used snowflake stamps while it was still wet(remembered to spray them with water before it dried too) The photo was far too dark(yuk!) so I gessoed over it and then stamped a scene onto a piece of tissue paper(I extended the stamping on either side)I added paint over the paste when it had dried.  The page was still too bright so …lilac, followed by white - applied with my fingers and a baby wipe, hmm, too plain now…added smears of blue, white and silver and more lilac in both directions.
The quote from 'Snowflakes' written by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow(yes, he who wrote the song of Hiawatha, which brings back memories of a book I had when I was little) was handwritten in silver and white pens and then outlined in a glittery black pen.

This is for Art Journal Journey. 'Winter Wonderland' is Chrissie's choice of theme this time and I'm loving it!!

Thanks for looking, Chris

  3. I heard on a painting show one time that adding any shade of purple will add warmth to your painting. Looks like it warmed your page up just enough to make the blue and white pop. You put a lot of layers into this, and it shows!

  9. So very pretty - I can picture a little village in Maine ... Watching snow fall is quite calming. Especially if it is the big fluffy flakes. And then the world becomes very quiet -

  10. Lovely icy feel. The little village in the distance somehow reminds me of Russia even through the architecture is not there. I would like to bundle up, hitch my beautiful horses to the troika and come for a visit. hugs, Donna
