Hi everyone, we have a had a few outings over the past week but my favourite was a trip to Biddulph Grange last Thursday. If we had taken heed of the weather forecast we might not have gone but...we had a big umbrella and waterproof coats so off we went.
It was raining a little when we left here to travel the 25 mile trip South and as we got closer it seemed darker and still raining. We got to the car park and the heavens opened. We sat for a while and it seemed to ease so we got out and headed to the cafe for a warming coffee and scone. This is the view from the front of the cafe... ...and here are our coffees and scones. Not quite what we were expecting - but tasted good all the same. Of course it is here at the start of our walk that I am joining Bleubeard and Elizabeth for T Stands for Tuesday The rain wasn't easing much more so we decided to do the short walk....still raining...
...so, through the gateway...
...and onto the Dragon path...
..a look back at the shelter and the bridge.
The paths were quite wet.
The Tulips had a great backdrop of Wisteria
At this point, just as we were about to take a turn onto the shorter route the rain stopped so we continued onto the longer route.
A new walkway has been constructed outside the grounds - we need to investigate another time we think!
One of the paths we used to take is now closed
A huge puddle but love the reflection
Looking back towards the cafe
The Pine Walk - we will be back here in June
We took the scenic route to a garden centre before going home (it has a craft shop attached) This looking out over the Staffordshire countryside.
The rain started again as we arrived at the Garden Centre. We had been very lucky!
We have had rain at some time every day for a few weeks now but the weather forecast is for drier weather over the weekend - hurray!!!
Thanks for looking, Chris

Hi Chris, I always enjoy the photos from your beautiful garden walks. and as I started reading your post-the heavens just opened up and it's pouring down rain here and hard and fast haha. the guys just put all the tools away about 30 minutes ago from the dock work project-perfect timing haha.
Happy T happy you are able to get out on these day trips hugs Kathy
Nothing seems to dampen your spirits. Rain or shine you're a delight. Hubby is too. The gardens are beautiful especially the Chinese gardens and I love your plaid (tartan?) umbrella. I almost got excited thinking there was another lion sighting and joke's on me Sphynx guards. Almost a lion. 😺 Take care and Happy T Day
I don't think the rain really ruined your day out. Of course the sun would have been nice, but your big umbrellas and that gorgeous scenery, well I think it was worth just getting out in it. What a beautiful place Chris. And we could use rain at my house. Too bad you can't send a little my way. Hope it has been a great T day Chris. Thanks for sharing these photos. It is always fun to see them. Hugs-Erika
The rain may have slowed you down a bit, but it certainly didn't spoil your trip. You had some beautiful photos of the grounds and Chinese garden. Loved the dragon and the tulips in front of the cafe, too. You really got some great shots, not the least of which are yours and T's coffees and scones Thanks for sharing your trip to Biddulph Grange and your coffees and scones with us for T this Tuesday, dear friend.
such a joy to meander the beautiful gardens through your eyes-rain or shine!(well, so long as the rain isn't in cold weather;)
We need rain quite badly right now so I'd be happy to take it across the pond from you. Happy T day!
An overcast day makes for the most beautiful and intense color photos. What a beautiful place to spend the day wandering.
Hi Chris, pleased to see the rain didn’t stop you enjoying your trip, beautiful gardens and scenery and of course tea and scones, what more could you ask for! At least it was crowded because of the rain.
Happy T Day

Lovely photos and I'm pleased the rain didn't spoil your day out.

Gorgeous photos Chris, sorry about the rain, I think we will all be happy when we get some dry weather again! The Chines garden is so pretty! Here's to sunny days again! Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
The rain makes those garden walks so very lush! How beautiful! :)
The flowers looked so bright and happy against the rainy sky. You shared so many things that I love. The Chinese gardens look beautiful from your view underneath the roof. The red bridge and the brightly painted gate is lovely. And the stone sphinx look very majestic.
It looks like you had a lovely time over your warm drinks and scones. Thank you for letting us come along.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
Great photos in spite of the rain Chris! X
Oh my gosh...such a beautiful place even in the rain. That dragon path was so cool!!
Happy T day!
Glad I am not the only one who goes out even in the rain! great photos!
What a lovely walk. It was worth it I think in spite of the rain. The flowers are so colourful and I love the Chinese garden.
Happy belated T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca
