Hi everyone, I'm taking you to a magical place today. It is somewhere tried to visit last year but when we went it was closed and we didn't get back there until this year!
It is the Grotte de Tourtoirac and isn't far away from our son's manoir!
The most interesting thing is that these caves were only discovered in 1995 and only opened to the public in 2010
I wasn't sure what to expect but was absolutely blown away by the beautiful sights.
No words - just enjoy!
Afterwards we went off to nearby Chervais Cubas and had lunch at Franca (another favourite of ours!)
Hubby was delighted to get a Cafe Gourmand - coffee with a few samples of desserts
Thanks for looking, Chris
So, for T Stands For Tuesday over at Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog The Altered Book Lover, although we had water, tonic water and Coke during our meal I will let you focus on hubby's coffee and mini desserts!
What stunningly beautiful photos! Caves can be a bit spooky, but this seems to be well lit and what dramatic formations! those desserts look pretty amazing too...;) Happy T day!
ReplyDeleteoh WOW! what a glorious sight, isn't nature wonderful I love the ones that have grown like arms hanging down... incredible. Desserts look yummy, too!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures of the cave - everything looks quite stunning. And I would go for the Café Gourmand as well. Happy T day.
ReplyDeleteOMG, Chris, this is fabulous. I would love to visit there. The photos are even better than the food and drink today and that's saying something! Thanks for sharing, I will come back tomorrow for a longer look! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThe stalactite and stalagmite formations are incredibly beautiful. The desserts are a beautiful sight, too. Happy T Day
ReplyDeleteYou really treated us to a great photo essay this time. I grew up in a limestone cave area and I have always loved the beauty of the slowly-formed natural sculptures.
ReplyDeletebest, mae at maefood.blogspot.com
So pretty Chris... Here in TX we have been to the Sonora Caverns and then Carlsbad Caverns.. I think they are all just wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing ! Happy T day!! Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteMy son has seen the Caves in Kentucky and was quite impress with them.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on.
Wow!! Just stunning cave magic!
ReplyDeleteHappy Tuesday. :)
I love caves! but there aren't any in our immediate area. You got great photos!
ReplyDeleteThe coffee/dessert plate would be a sweet treat :) Happy T Day!
Caves are amazing to visit, aren't they? I can't believe these were just discovered so relatively recently. I've visited a couple of caves at various times, and it is always very eye opening. I'm glad you got to go visit. And I apologize for being late commenting for T. That's a fun photo of your husband too. What an expression on his face. I hope it was a wonderful T day Chris. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteWow! This is one amazing cave.
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm late visiting your T Tuesday post. I caught a bug that knocked me out.
ReplyDeleteI love spelunking. I have been in a cave a friend owns that hasn't been completely mapped. Needless to say, nothing like the beautiful one you shared for T. Your photos were magnificent.
That was possibly the best photo I've seen of T. It was great. I almost forgot I was supposed to be looking at the desserts and coffee (grin). Thanks for sharing both the caves and the desserts for T this week, dear Chris.
I like to think that there are undiscovered jewel caves beneath our feet! Thank you for confirming this. Aloha
ReplyDeleteWow those caves are spectacular! I would love to see them in person but that's unlikely so I really appreciate your photos Chris. The one that looks like a hand reaching down! Love your hubby's mini dessert plate! Sorry for the late comment, had some browser issues last week.
