When We Were Young at AJJ

Hi everyone, can you believe it's August already? I am delighted to be  hosting at Art Journal Journey this month with my theme 'When We Were Young'

For many children around the World it is school holiday time and it made me think of the things I used to do as a child. For some children schooldays are resuming or even continuing.

My first page is something that may be familiar to many of you.

As a child I used to spend many hours in a neighbour's greenhouse with my friend - drawing, colouring, cutting out etc. I use stencils and paint to create a messy background.

I used an Aall and Create Janet Klein artist stamp, a strip of Dina Wakley collage paper and an Aall and create die cut. The words are from a set that I have lost the info for.

I am hoping that you will share your pages about your own childhood, that of your ancestors or our own younger generation.

Of course you get different view of what is young as you get older. I remember as much about being five or being a teen in the 60’s as I do about playing with my children or grandchildren.

I look forward to seeing you at Art Journal Journey with your memories of leisure activities, schooldays, friends and family, things you ate, saw, heard.....the list goes on!

I'd like to thank Wendy for hosting at AJJ last month, and to welcome Valerie back after her break.

Thanks for looking, Chris

  1. This is so clever. That Janet Klein doll is adorable. I like how she has paint brushes in one hand and a coloring book in another. Love the scissors on the floor/table, too. This is a great first entry and I know I'm going to love your theme this month.

  3. This is a great new theme Chris. I am looking forward to it. And I think so many of us do remember being creative as kids. That's where it started, right? And I also agree about our memories about childhood. This should be a fun month for creativity as your page shows. And a good time to use color and those JK images. Loving your new page. Happy August. hugs-Erika
