T Stands For.....the last day in Paris and a second look at miniature Paris.

Hi everyone, we've had rain here again today. I think the North West of the UK is the only area receiving large amounts of rain and we have green grass once again.

It seems ages since I went to Paris with my GD but in actually fact we only got back less than three weeks ago (there's been a lot going on!)

My last pics a week ago showed us leaving Samaritaine but I didn't show you our main reason for visiting....

We went to the Voyageur restaurant for a drink and dessert (our second of the day!) We were shown to the same window table that hubby and I had last September.(Hubby actually told me that I must take Emily here!)
When I saw Strawberry Melba on the menu my choice was easy - not so much sugar as some on the menu and refreshing and delicious. I had another tonic water and Emily had sugar free Coke.

We both agreed - best dessert ever!

It wasn't long before it was time to check Emily's phone!

I had a great view across the restaurant.

I am joining Bleubeard and Elizabeth of The Altered Book Lover for T Stands For Tuesday. Every Tuesday, for just over nine years Elizabeth has hosted this get together of folk willing to share their drink related posts.

We were going to visit one of the 'Emily In Paris' locations so had a quick natural break and caught the Metro. We were walking on the opposite side of the road when we heard music - Emily asked could we cross the road but to be honest I was on my way. I have seen these Tango dancers on the terrace outside the Comédie Française on Instagram and I was so pleased that they were there.

We walked around the corner to the gardens of the Palais Royale where in the series Emily meets her friend. We were so intrigued as to which bench they sat on that I forgot to take a photo of Emily sitting on Emily's bench!

The sun was getting lower and I grabbed a couple of snaps of the rose gardens from over the hedge

A quick pose
Then we really did have to go...
..the dancers were on their last dance as we walked over to the Metro...
...we all had somewhere to be!
We stopped for a snack on the way to our hotel, a quick wash and brush up, FaceTime hubby and her dad and we were out to the Metro again by 22.15.

The metro was packed, I mean really packed - I knew which stop I needed but suddenly at the stop before it we were told the metro was going no further! I had been pressed up to a couple who very kindly took us along with them until I recognised where we were. There were lots of others headed in the same direction!
So many people - what for?

The Jour de Fête Nationale fireworks.....

...we arrived just in time to see the lights on the Eiffel tower twinkle. This street and other all around were packed, we could hear the music from the nearby Champs du Mars (I decided to avoid the bigger crowds that would be there)and then someone nearby set up some more music. The atmosphere was amazing.
...then the fireworks started!

There were gasps and applause for some of the more spectacular fireworks.

So great to be a part of these celebrations!

At this point the fireworks seemed to slow down so we started to make our way to the Metro station I had intended coming to. I'm familiar with these roads as we stayed in this area several years on the run.
Even though we left early we could still catch glimpses of the rest and I wish I had stopped to take a photo of a bar with a live band - Emily was thrilled with it.
The crush at the Metro was crazy, but luckily most were going in the opposite direction and we got onto an almost empty train which never really got full!

We wouldn't have missed it for the world even though we had to get up early to pack our bags for our homeward journey.
One final photo of Emily at breakfast time.
She loved the pancakes with Nutella.

Now for my Second on the 2nd post at Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog
Here is a link if you want to see more of my Miniature France from 9th August 2014.
I still have this on display in my hallway

We're hoping that the rain will stop later this week so we can get out and about. I need to visit a garden or two!

Thanks for looking, Chris

  4. Hi Chris. This is Erika, but I am commenting for Elizabeth because she can't get her computer to leave comments. She wants you to know that she appreciates you linking up to T day, and she feels bad she can't comment since she hosts the blog. She is supposed to get her computer looked at tomorrow, and hopefully she will then be back in the world of commenting. Thanks for linking up and sharing more Paris photos for T day and also sharing your miniature France piece for Second on the Second.

  10. How Fab Chris! I loved all of it. I didn't make the connection with Emily in Paris, and your GD also being Emily, that's a great idea to visit the locations. I loved the tango dancers, that lady in the red trousers looks like she knows her stuff, and they all look so elegant and graceful. Loved the fireworks and the desserts! What a fabulous trip you both had. Thanks for showing mini Paris too, never seen that before. Happy belated T Day and second on the secondElle/EOTC xx
