Hi everyone,
I shall continue with our French trip if that's OK.
You have already seen how we spent our first full day - a Saturday.
On Sunday we visited a couple of Vide Greniers - the only equivalent I can think of is either a British Boot sale, or a garage sale if you are in the USA.
I managed to get a selection of used postage stamps and some spectacle cleaners - not exactly a big spender!
In between the two we went to a favourite restaurant - Auberge de la Cour d'Henon
We both chose duck which followed a really great Hors d'oeuvres plate.
For dessert I chose a rhubarb layered pot, hubby had Black Forest gateau. Our drink for all four of us was water.
As you can see the restaurant was quite busy.
I am of course joining Bleubeard and Elizabeth for T stands for Tuesday.
On Monday we were taken to Parc Imbert in Thouars, it has really well laid out areas.
Looking down into the wooded valley we decided that on such a hot day it would be a trek back up again, so left that for another cooler time.
An ant heading for some greenery
We went for a walk around the town and came to St Medard church.
The carvings on the outside of the building are impressive too
The town has lots of little streets with lovely medieval houses
This area is now part of a college
We walked back to the car through the old market.
Thanks for looking, Chris
Fabulous photos, Chris, but I wish you hadn't shown all that lovely food, I'll be thinking about it all evening now....My fave photos today are the beautiful churches and stained glass windows. Have agreat day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI love tagging along on your trips. Oh, that Black Forest cake! The gardens are lovely, but my favorite part was the stained glass of the church and architecture. I was just thinking of the man hours it took to carve all those statues and then to build without modern cranes and equipment. Mind boggling. Do people still live in the medieval houses? Backwards, forwards, or sideways, I enjoyed your photos. Happy T Day
ReplyDeleteYou find the most beautiful places to visit - gorgeous gardens and architecture! the desserts look beautiful - yum yum!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the lovely photos of such a beautiful and historic place.

I would never tire of your photos of France Chris... it's just that they make me miss it even more than I already do. Your photos are fantastic!! I especially LOVE the cathedral, churches, and charming old villages. How I loved stopping and wandering in places like that.
ReplyDeleteAnd your special meal is to die for- yum! I know I'll be back to this post again :) Happy T day!
PS- I saw your comment to me earlier. You don't need to be on FB for the Willowing Taster Sessions. She also provides the links via website and You Tube which is what I use;)
Hi Chris, I so enjoyed all of the photos of your trip to France this time. I loved the church very much and the medieval area especially. thank you for sharing all of these wonderful photos. the food looks delicious my husband would have chose the black forest cake too. Happy T wishes hugs Kathy
ReplyDeleteThere are so many wonderful sites and sights to see, it's almost overwhelming. I loved the various gardens, the incredible architecture, the amazing stained glass windows, and the medieval homes. Your photos are fabulous, too. Gave a real sense of place.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of duck, but I would go for that Black Forest cake. Water is the sensible thing to drink with all that rich food you consumed. thanks for sharing your incredible photos of your trip, as well as your meals, desserts, and water with us for T this Tuesday, dear Chris.
Lovely photos, I enjoyed them very much, France is such a beautiful country, and I like all the old buidlings and narrow alleys.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place! The food looks lovely and the church is amazing! Those carvings and the stained glass are stunning. I am going to have to look up more pictures of this church.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you shared.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
Your meals looks and sounds delicious. And what a fun couple of days. The carvings on the outside of the church are amazing. None of the churches here in the US are that old or have that kind of detail. Thanks for sharing these Chris. It's fun to armchair travel. And I hope you had a wonderful T day too. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteWow, some beautiful pictures. Craftsmen were so talented back when these buildings were made. Such lovely work!!! TFS. Great town pictures too - seems like it could be a picture from 200 years ago or today - so cool.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the food pictures too - WOW!
Such a super trip.
Happy T-day!!!
Wow, beautiful places, both outside and inside. Walk a great place to get to walk around. Your food looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteYour food looks delicious. The gardens are gorgeous! I wonder at how long it would've taken to build that cathedral... so many different talents involved. Inspiring! Thank you for sharing your journey :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos Chris, such a lovely place!
ReplyDeleteFrench food - how delicious! thank you for sharing all your photos from your trip Chris, I doubt I will be going anywhere anytime soon, so I appreciate it. What a lovely place, and those stained glass windows are incredible, but my favourite is the house with the blue doors and shutters, I think that has my name on it lol Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx
