Hi everyone, for those in other countries 'Autumn Watch' is a Wildlife programme here in the UK, (they have a 'Watch' each season).
When we had our caravan we used to go to the Wild Bird Sanctuary at Leighton Moss regularly. We always enjoyed our late Autumn evening visits as we could watch as the starlings flew in with their great flying displays known as murmurations. We used to watch for more groups flying in to join the main group before they all suddenly dropped into the reed beds.
I used distress ink to colour my sky which I spritzed with water and dabbed it to give a late evening haze. The bottom of the page is a napkin I bought in Paris and I stamped the Crafty Individuals owl who is watching my dotty impression of a murmuration.I coloured him with Polychromos.
I wrote the words on a piece of scrap paper and outlined it roughly with white pen.

This is gorgeous Chris. I love your colors and those pretty flowers. Autumn stemps and blooms are always so interesting to look at. The owl is another wonderful addition too. I hope he doesn't go for the starlings. I like how you incorporated them. I someday want to see them flying around like that. This is definitely the Colours of October.I bet it is amazing. Have a wonderful weekend. hugs-Erika

Fabulous page Chris, and what a great find that napkin was with the autumn foliage, the sky/starlings looks so real.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.

This is a fabulous page Chris, really beautiful. You used a wonderful napkin. Seeing this made me happy, thanks! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteA super mixed media piece Chris and perfect for our current challenge at Stamping Sensations, many thanks for joining in.
ReplyDeleteThe Starlings are giving us some great displays here in the Fens the last couple of weeks, they always gather on the elec wires across our paddocks preparing for their departure. This year they are rather later than usual, maybe because Autumn is very late arriving here.

Gorgeous page. I don't know what I like best. The colors, the owl, the hand-lettering, or the murmurations you capture so realistically.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful page Chris! I love Autumn watch, one of my favourite programmes. Must be coming on soon.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend.

Love your page Chris-Gorgeous
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you explained Autumn Watch to those of us who don't live in the UK. Your owl is beautiful and I can see why you bought that napkin. It's gorgeous. I was really taken by the starlings in the sky preparing to land. I used to see that all the time near the airport when I lived in Missouri. They land and aren't afraid of the traffic or the airplanes taking off. Then suddenly they are spooked by something and all take off, only to return a few minutes later. I really LOVE this one, Chris. It's a great entry for Tracey's theme at Art Journal Journey, too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a glorious page Chris. I love your sky with its murmurations and the napkin you used for the bottom is absolutely perfect. I know they are not but some of the grassxes remind me of honesty, it's almost that silvery translucent look about it.
ReplyDeleteGreat the way you have the red between the sky and the earth.
Hugs, Neet xx

ReplyDeleteI love that program Chris always something new to discover. Your page shows a grand display it's as if we are looking from a hidden viewing hut at the Owl seeing that fabulous murmuration, always a powerful sight to see for real. You must have had some magic times at the caravan.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing another super page for my AJJ theme.
Hugs Tracey xx
