Hi everyone, I know a lot of you are going to enjoy our new theme 'Halloween' at Try It On Tuesday. It's not my favourite, but I do look forward to seeing your creations and have enjoyed seeing some spooky goings on from my Teamies too!
I had fun searching for words to accompany the image on my journal page.
The page started like this - I added distress oxide over my page then spritzed it with water and dabbed a paper towel over to lift the water to give a spooky lightI stamped some bare trees and added barbed wire and spattered some white paint over the piece of blue paper that came as part of some packaging
I stamped the Crafty Individuals crow and gave him some white pen highlights!
The words came from this charity shop book, that as soon as I picked it up and looked through it, knew it would give me words for all sorts of pages!
The story is a sad tale of a feuding family and two children who grew up loving each other despite their families disagreements.
It has a very sad ending.
As you can see it has been cut into lots of times!
I hope you will join us at Try It On Tuesday this time, the theme runs for two weeks.
I am linking to Art Journal Journey and my 'Hold The Line' theme
Thanks for looking, Chris
Wonderful page, Chris. It turned out so well even though it's not quite your theme! Have a safe day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteBeautiful page! The barbed wire background looks fabulous with the midnight blue colouring and I love the crow stamp; it all looks so eerie and atmospheric when you read the verse too 😀. How wonderful to take lines from the book too! Happy and creative wishes! Hugs Jo x
ReplyDeleteQuite an Edgar Allen Po-etic page, Chris! Love the textures, found words and stamped elements. XOXO

ReplyDeleteQuite amazing, dear Chris. I like your take on this Halloween theme. It's dark, sinister, and very different. It's also something you can wrap your head around, since Halloween is not really your thing. It IS however, a great entry for your theme at Art Journal Journey.
ReplyDeleteI Love your journal page Chris-
ReplyDeleteA fabulous page Chris, the background looks very atmospheric and eerie and I can just imagine the moonlight glinting on the crow.

A fabulous atmospheric page Chris. The bird 'crow' looks great.
ReplyDeleteThe old book looks a good find and the print seems a good size for your pages.
Stay safe.

I saw this on Instagram and thought it was terrific and I enjoyed seeing the processes in making it here.
ReplyDeleteIt might not be your choice of theme but you made a great journal page for it. Love the background colour and I just adore the barbed wire - can you tell me who makes this stamp I can see it having so much use.
ReplyDeleteA lovely page with its simple imagery - needs nothing more than you have given it.
hugs, Neet xx
*wow* wonderful page,
ReplyDeleteI'm not for Halloween either, but the way you designed it I like it very much!!!
Have a beautiful Week, hug Elke
Great page Chris, you pipped me to the post with those stamps!

What a great idea to purloin words from a book to make your own sentiments! I hadn't thought of doing it that way. Will have to survey my existing inventory :).
