Our main destination was the Chateau d'Oiron
It is well known for its contemporary art installations.
This is the first room we entered and the humming of bees was al around these hives.
These are profiles of a whole village put on to china plates. They wren all around the room.
Some of the art was rather strange but fascinating!
As well assail this modern art we passed through the Kings rooms - very opulent!!!
This long hall way was my favourite - small squares depicting all kinds of nature.
Outside the smell of the lavender was heavenly
My drink related photo for T stands for Tuesday hosted by Bleubeard and Elizabeth at the Altered Book Lover blog was taken at the weekend when we went for a walk at Kirby Lonsdale - hubby turned the tables on me - if you think our hair looks wet you'd be right - we got caught in a shower just as we were walking away from the river!
Hubby had a hot chocolate and I had a mocha The warm scone was forced upon me!! :-)
When this is posted I will be on my way to Kew Gardens so I will try to visit you on the train on the way home!
Thanks for looking, Chris
Fantastic photos. I especially liked the wall of old tiles. Happy T-Day!
ReplyDeleteWow Chris. What a fabulous place. I am not a huge fan of modern art but it is still fascinating to look at. I love the idea of putting it in a castle. Thanks so much for bringing us along. This looks like quite the experience. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteBeautiful art, some looks Portugese even! Wow, a great place, and well, it was just water, that rain :-)Happy T-Day! Have fun on your visit to the gardens!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous collection of art Chris-really amazing, I loved the tiles too-a very neat place to visit-thanks for all the photos.
ReplyDeleteYour drinks sound yum! Happy T wishes Kathy
Lovely photos, my faves today are the wonderful tiles and that huge shell. Poor you, having a scone forced on you, terrible punishment.... Today I HAD to buy a new jacket, as I was too cold in town! Happy T day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeletesuch a very interesting castle- and quite different from most of the others. Gorgeous photos! I love the walls of tiles especially. And oh, I can just about smell that glorious lavender...
ReplyDeleteYou and hubby look quite sweet, and happy despite the bit of rain you got caught in. Must be the warm drinks and scones:) Happy T day!
Beautiful photos, the artworks are so interesting and I love all those little wooden panels depicting nature - amazing 😁. I used to work in an old Tudor mansion and one of the rooms was called the Flower Room which was of a similar style and depicted local flowers and wildlife, so beautiful! Looks like you had a lovely walk too, nice to dry off with a hot chocolate and scone - perfect 😉. Sending you Happy T Day wishes! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful artwork! I liked the thing that looked like a snail shell on wheels, a baby buggie? Hnn. Anyway, Happy T Day!
ReplyDeleteFascinating to see such modern pieces against more traditional settings. I'll have a scone, please :) The lavender looks beautiful, especially as ours has long since seen its last bloom of the season. Sweet! Happy T Tuesday
ReplyDeleteSome gorgeous pics, some fascinating artworks. I do hope you have had a wonderful day at Kew! looking forward to your photos!
ReplyDeleteWow! Art from the beautiful to the strange but fascinating, is right! I loved the nature tiles, too, and the framed dried plants. The nautilus baby carriage made me chuckle.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the rain didn't dampen your spirits! :)
What an interesting art installation, Chris. But bee hives?! Really? I hope it was just recorded humming. The china profiles are wonderful. What a unique idea. Many wonderful sights. Thank you for the great pictures.
ReplyDeleteThe warm scone was forced upon you - lol.
Happy T-day! Eileen xx
Fabulous photos. I really like the modern exhibition and hearing the bees must have been interesting. the wall pieces looked awesome as well.
ReplyDeleteHappy T day wishes Chris.

I love everything about this place, Chris. It is wonderful. I could have stayed for days and taken it all in. I'm a BIG fan of modern art like this. I understand it, at least. Beautiful. Love the gold and opulence as well as the nature inspired art.
ReplyDeleteYou had me laughing at having the tables turned on you and being forced to eat the scone. Wonderful hot chocolate and mocha to warm you, too. Thanks for sharing your trip to Chateau d'Oiron, as well as your drinks with us for T this Tuesday. Can't wait to see what you found at Kew.

What a beautiful castle! The modern art looks very strange in the opulent rooms.
ReplyDeleteLike you I loved those pretty handmade tiles! I could spend hours looking at them.
Your hot chocolate and mocha look delicious and what accompanied them looks yummy too. Of course it was forced on you. (A scone at gunpoint?)
Happy belated T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca
Completely amazing... what a setting for those art installations. I agree, the nature squares are beautiful, and I'm also drawn to those beehives, but that's partly the ficus plants in the wooden boxes in the beautiful stone of the room too. I like the botanical drawings in b&w, and the blue and white tiles too. But my deepest sigh went to the lavender on the sunlit terrace - glorious. I'm so happy you shared this trip with us, thank you.
