Second on the 2nd....

...and a little bit more!
Well, July whizzed past so quickly and I only realised that I hadn't prepared my Calendar Journal pages for August yesterday evening (good job I spotted Alison's fabulous pages)
I sat last night with my trusty Neocolour IIs on my knee and coloured a background then went off to my craftroom to stencil and stamp some  background stamps onto the pages.
I cut out the yellow squares while watching TV and stuck them on...err..they may be a little bit wonky!! The birds were stamped this morning and 'August'
Here are my July pages, yes, quite busy!

I'm also here of course for a Second look on the 2nd over at Bleubeard and Elizabeth's
I have gone back 5 years
This was written on the 4th August 2103 while we were at the caravan in the days when I could link to my laptop via my phone and we also had a much better connection!
        ------------------------------------------
While here I'm not getting much more than doodling done in my Art Doodle Love - the fantastic book by Dawn deVries Sokol.
This is one I started ages ago but never managed to show you
Doodle every day for a month were the instructions for this page(about something for which you are grateful)
I am hopping around the book so have several unfinished pages that I hope I can show you soon!
This afternoon we went for a walk around Beetham - just off the A6 near Milnthorpe. We found a nice tearoom that has only been open for 8 weeks and best of all the Saxon church was open. I love finding carved faces and these were beauties! Don't know who the two grand figures above the door were but I like to think that the other figures were locals who helped in the building of the church!

               --------------------------------------
As you can see this fits Elizabeth's Count Your Blessings theme at Art Journal Journey - I won't be linking this but I will try to make another similar page while we are away next time that I can link!!

We must go back to that Tearoom too, we have been going to the Garden centre nearby.

Thanks for looking, Chris

  1. Like Alison, Yvonne, and Erika to name a few, YOU put my calendar pages to shame. Yours is amazing, and I am in awe of August. I love the August stamp and the HOT colors of summer, too. Nicely done and of course I had to read your July entries.

I love the second look you shared. You have NO idea how much I hate doodling. I can't begin to imagine doing it for 30 days. Your 2 page spread showed so many different ways to doodle, and I was really, really impressed. I also loved the tape measure embellishment you used, too. The fact you chose a retro gratitude entry made it even more special.

Of course, I was impressed by your trip to Beetham. The church was gorgeous both inside and out. I was in awe of the arched entry to the church. And those faces were stunning. It was obvious who were royalty and who weren't. Thanks for sharing this as a second look on the 2nd, dear Chris.

  4. I always love your calendars. You are a pro at laying out color and images for sure. :) And your doodle a day looks like lots of fun. I like how you made them small and simple but that makes them pop. ANd what a cool church. I love the heads. We don't have anything quite that old here for sure. Happy August 2 Chris. Hugs-Erika

  8. Great calendar pages, Chris. No wonder you're so organized and on top of things.

Your 2nd on the 2nd "doodle every day" page is fantastic. Too bad you can't enter it in the AJJ August "Count Your Blessings" challenge. It would be perfect!

    Hugs, Eileen

  9. I have EGG on my face. I did NOT receive a package from you. I thought it was from you because you said something was coming and it was addressed with MY doctor name, and to my knowledge, you are the only person who uses that title. Instead, I must let Yvonne know I have egg on my face. I'm such a dufus.
