Hi everyone! We are back from our few days away and I have a journal page for Rike's 'Animals from A to Z' theme at Art Journal Journey!
We get quite a lot of snails on the paths around here and I always stop to look at them - they are such wonderful looking creatures!
Slim here loves snails too - Slimy is his pet! That isn't so strange, my GD had some African snails in a tank sometime ago. I think they were taken to her Mum's house to look after eventually!
My page started with a little bit of an experiment...
..while clearing out some old boxes I found a thin sheet of foam like material. I spread some paint on and made a print on my journal page.
I also got a few more prints onto book pages, although I had to press more firmly as the paint began to run out.
I used a strip at the bottom and added some pink to my page.
I stamped some black drips and runs stamps - I am not good at keeping my stamps with their packaging and once again have no idea who to credit! I also added a few spatters.
Slim (Paper Artsy ElenaZinskiart and Slimy(Caravelle Studio) were both stamped onto my page and also stamped onto card and coloured with Inktense blocks and a water brush. I fussy cut them to be stuck in place to keep the details.I gave Slimy some gold dots with a sparkly pen. I added a Tim Holtz chit chat sticker to show how these two love each other!

We are prepared for cold weather over the next few days although we have to venture out tomorrow to take the car for a service and an eye test for hubby!
I am also going to get the results of my blood test this week so finger crossed!!
Thanks for looking, Chrisx
This is a fun page. What a fun way to start the week-with a smile making page! Hope it's a nice week and you enjoyed your time away. Hugs-erika
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun page with your snail and tall red! Thanks for sharing your wonderful work with us at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! Hugs, Maura
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun project. When you see a thumbnail on SSSMchallenge, sometimes I have to go to the blog to see what it is all about. This was one of them and I loved it when I got there.

You know how much you hate frogs. That's how I feel about snails. Those slimy creatures are pests in my garden, and I don't care for them. BUT, I do like your adorable journal page you created especially for us at Art Journal Journey. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed your blood test is OK and your husband's eye test goes well.
Great journal page. I know someone who would fit the 'slim and slimy' name very well! I am not a friend of snails at all. It's very cold over here, and will get worse in the course of the week. At least we had sun yesterday. Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeletegreat page! I am not looking forward to slipping and sliding to work this week; if the weather is going to be as bad as they say... I am hoping it is not! Take care
ReplyDeleteThe headline was a bit of shock but the page is such fun and with great backgrounds ideas.
ReplyDeleteLove Chrissie xx
The best page to start a new week! All you need is love - your Slim and Slimy are amazing! As I was a child I loved snails with their houses, I watched them for hours - but as grown up I do not love them anymore, they are now red and without houses and eat my salad and vegetable in my garden!
ReplyDeleteYour background technique is fabulous - I like this technique too, as you know :) There are such interesting and surprising results and you can use one for more sheets of paper. To use that foam like material (I want try that in future) gave more texture as a normal sheet of paper.
Thanks a lot for joining us again at AJJ with such a funny and wonderful page!
Wish you a happy week! Rike x
A fantastic page - right to my taste as I am a big lover of snails as well ! Thank you for supporting the Animal A-Z theme so well dear Chris - this is so much appreciated! Hope all goes well this week for you, hubby and the car!
ReplyDeleteMy fingers are already crossed!

A brilliant page Chris! Made me smile! xxx
ReplyDeleteI've had snails as pets in an aquarium but never land snails. I've seen pictures of huge African land snails that look almost friendly lol The snails we have here are tiny and I rarely see them. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and love really is all you need :) What a fun page!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun design, Chris, it made me smile! Thanks for showing us your process and for joining us at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge!
ReplyDeleteFabulous page Chris and I love the story about the pet snails.
ReplyDeleteIt was a super technique idea as well, for printing some backgrounds, your results look great.
Hope all goes well for you with the results.
