If you are like me you have certain 'go to' craft supplies that you use more than any others!
We are asking you to show us which craft supplies or techniques you like most! Please check out the information on our blog.
The Design Team really did enjoy themselves with this so do take a look here
These are a few of my favourite things - sing that if you like!!!
My journals are definitely a favourite - even when I make celebration cards I nearly always have a warm up in a journal - it may be a sketch or a collage but generally it's with another favourite supply - stamps! I am using one of my favourites here - one from a Lynne Perella Paper Artsy set - I call her Teacup lady and she has appeared in journals, on canvases and on cards!
I have stamped her onto book paper (Oh yes! I love book paper) which has been painted with gold acrylic paint and decided to leave her uncoloured.
The background was made by adding PA fresco paints with my finger to build up some layers - one of my favourite ways to add paint to a page!
I then used a stiff brush dipped in gold and silver paints and stippled onto the page (did I mention that I love metallic paints?)
I also used metallic paint to stamp the Lin Brown stem
I stamped around the edge of my page with a fringe that was part of another favourite LP stamp then some random stamping with perfect medium before adding Frantage embossing powder - I do love the texture from this!
To mount Teacup lady I used two scraps - as many of you know I hate waste so have several clear pencil cases containing scraps (not an obvious favourite) I used some infusion sprinkled deli paper and some coloured book paper.
Finally I added a favourite quote which coincidentally has a reference to my serendipitous chosen word for this year - POSSIBILITIES!I am using Teacup lady for my link to Bleubeard and Elizabeth for T Stands for Tuesday!
I am returning to France for some photos of some markets we visited with our friends, my ex SIL and hubby.
The first is in Neuville on a Sunday when the temperature was quite high, even at 11.30 in the morning!
There was a lot to see including a man who had live eels to grill…did we???….not likely!!!
The indoor market had a lovely deli counter and quite a lot of fish and meat - I'll spare you those!
I was in my element though, with all the plants and flower stalls outside!
The town hall was a beautiful building ..
…and so was the nearby church -with a water tower behind it!There was something about this building that made me smile too!
From here it was on to lunch then a Vide Grenier( a table top sale)
in a huge carpark.By this time it was very hot and we wandered off on our own and found some shade to take a photo. I went and had a look around but despite this being the biggest VG we had ever been to found nothing to spend my money on!
We also visited a market midweek in Poitiers before joining our friends at their weekly French class!
The lady cooking here was happy for us to photograph the flat bread being cooked but did not want her face on camera. She and her Mother were making delicious wraps, she insisted we take one to try and would not accept payment!
This market was in two areas - food - mainly in a shadier part and clothing etc. in another!
Once again it was very hot and we headed for shade!
I hope you will join us at TIOT and if you have a drink related post I am sure Elizabeth and her two cats would love you to pop by at TSFT!
Thanks for looking, Chris
Wonderful page and photos, Chris
ReplyDeleteI love your TIOT piece Chris. The little glimmer of metallics really makes it so frosty and petty feeling. Just right for that cup of tea! And I enjoyed seeing the market photos. It would be nice be back in those warmer days as I see people wearing short sleeves. :) I think a little trip would be nice right now. Too bad I don't have anything planned. Hope you are warm and enjoying a cup of tea right now. happy T day. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteA great post Chris, wonderful photos of the market.
ReplyDeleteLove the journal page with the metallic glints in the background along with the stamping.

I love your wonderful page - the cup - hat woman and the colours - such a brilliant make and wow - fantastic photos - would be great to visit there! The crepes stand reminds me of my childhood as we spent holidays in the south of France at the sea and on the beach there was a crepes stand and I loved those crepes so much I always took them with chocolate cream...I will never forget them my whole life, they were absolutely delicious!
ReplyDeleteHappy T-Day my friend!

gorgeous journal page Chris, and I love how your word has appeared in your chosen quote! What a really wonderful looking town with the large markets and such-oooh those flowers are gorgeous. That really is hot weather though. As for the eels-non!! My Mom tells me of her father who used to catch them in the river and her mother would make them for dinner-won't go into details but my Mom said on those nights all she ate was some bread:) This was growing up in France. I much prefer the stand with the delicious looking flat bread:) Thanks for sharing more of your trip, and happy T day too!
ReplyDeleteI really love the journal page ♥♥♥ I love metallic paints too :)
ReplyDeleteThe market photos are fantastic and I know I would have totally enjoyed it. Those old buildings always make me smile :)

I'm with you in the love of journal Chris. Your page looks fabulous, I love the background you created and its a great stamp of the lady with her teacup on her head.
ReplyDeleteThe photos of the French markets look great, so warm and sunny to cheer a cold grey day here.
Happy T day wishes.

Your Teacup lady is a beauty, she looks fabulous mounted on those amazing scraps of different papers! It sounds fun painting the background with your finger and those metallic accents you added are beautiful 😁. I enjoyed visiting France with you, the architecture and markets look amazing! Wishing you Happy T Day wishes! J 😊

ReplyDeleteStamps, finger painting, and some shimmer--ahh!
ReplyDeleteLive eels--awk! But the flowers and the rest of the market looked so pretty. :)

I love teacup lady, too! Why is it that other countries have such wonderful and colourful markets... I remember a trip to Barcelona where there is a fabulous indoor market, could have stayed there for hours!
ReplyDeleteYour page is great and the teacup lady very appropriate for T-Day.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the stroll along the market. So much stuff. I drooled at the deli counter. The flower market is indeed very colourful and pretty.
Seeing the crepe made me hungry. We had crepes when we were in France and they are lovely aren't they. All different fillings.
Wishing you and your family a very happy (and healthy) 2018,
Happy T-Day,
Lisca
A gorgeous journal page Chris! I adore Lynn Perella, and the Teacup Lady is quite fun. Love the colors and textures you've combined with the beautiful sentiment! Wonderful photos as well...is it Spring yet?!!! happy T day! ♥
ReplyDeleteI apologize for taking so long to visit. I’ve had internet woes and just got back online. I knew stamping would be one of your favorite things and that tea lady is perfect. Simply wonderful journal page and beautiful art.
ReplyDeleteAs always, I loved seeing more of your trip to France. The street markets and items that were sold made me realize how different it is there, yet often looks like some of our art fairs, too. Of course, the difference is in the beautiful architecture and backdrop to those markets.
Thanks for sharing both your beautiful tea lady and your France photos with us for T this Tuesday, dear friend.
Chris i'm sorry i'm a little late for T... Lets call it fashionably late ok?? I always love seeing the photos from your trips... seeing those flowers was very refreshing since its been so cold... And your lovely journal page with your TcupLady.. Gorgeous.. I love how you explained your process and how it was your favorite material. So good to see you this T Tuesday... Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteGorgeous journal page!
ReplyDeletethis weather would be very welcome now;) i love the journaling page you made. the metallic really is cool - though i know it is always hard to photograph, so in real it might be ever better.
ReplyDeletehappy belated t-day, we have sun here for a few hours, i send you some:) xox
A beautiful page Chris, and great photos too! xx
ReplyDeleteWell I just want to play in the market! Especially in the hat tent!
ReplyDeleteI like your tea lady stamp too, Chris, as well as the several projects I've seen you use her in. The embossed patterns on this piece are lovely.
ReplyDeleteThis was an especially lovely batch of photos from France. Even though it was uncomfortably hot, the light and sky were perfect for picture taking. Thanks for suffering through all that, so we could enjoy your travels vicariously ;-)
I can't help wondering if you ever got my Christmas card (mailed from Mexico). It hasn't come back to me, so you still might receive it before next Christmas. One never knows.
Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen
That market looks like a place it'd be hard to leave. I'm struck by the hats and the flowers. I imagine I'd eat something while deciding what to buy :)
ReplyDeleteI was only planning on peeking at all, I've missed, but I loved this journal page so much I just had to tell you! The colors are gorgeous and I love the tea cup lady on the book paper. Clever! Hugs! PS wish we had markets like those here in Wilmington!
