Now, although I love seeing Steampunk creations I have to admit that I struggle a bit to create something myself!
I have had this bird a while - he makes me smile so I put him on a card for my son's partner.
I started by using copper spray on two old dictionary pages...
On one I stamped with black on the other I stamped with clear embossing ink and used gold EP.
I fussy cut the bird and his feathers but then decided his wheels should be brown so used brown EP just for some extra wheels
The corrugated card had a metal paint treatment - various colours!
I was enjoying myself so much I didn't consider that most of this would not be seen!!!
Next I gave some cogs a bit of a 'rusting' using inks and paints.
Sorry this doesn't show up so well - my under paper looks as though it is destined for a journal page though!!
I spattered some ink onto the edges of the card - see, I remembered this time!!
From here it was just a case of placing everything on top…
I decided that it wasn't quite as metallic as I would have liked so used an old make up brush (not mine) to add some more gold paint.
I masked off the image so that it was still visible!!!
Here are the cogs
The gold paint shows up better from a distance…
Looking forward to seeing your steampunk entries!
Don't forget that there's lots of inspiration on the TIOT blog from our Design Team, where we are also welcoming Rosie and Joan.
Thanks for looking, Chris
