The Crop - part 1

I was going to wait until Wednesday to show you some WOYWW crop pictures but thought you might like to see some of the photos hubby and I took on our little break! We went down on Thursday so that we could have a day out on Friday.
Stockbridge - a lovely little town which has connections with Lillie Langtry, Edward VII's mistress
We also saw this beautiful wisteria covered wall
and these


but best of all …..we got some bread when we went for coffee - to feed the ducks and saw these…


We spent the afternoon in Winchester - a beautiful city!
First - the Great Hall-this was used for court scenes in 'Wolf Hall' - a BBC series




After a light lunch we visited the Old Mill - they still make flour there!


The garden at the back was so peaceful!
We saw the Buttercross in the town centre and a modern touch up a side street too


A trip to the cathedral was on our list too, sadly some of it was covered in scaffolding but we did manage a few shots





The next day was Saturday - crop day!!!
Burbage where the crop is held is full of beautiful old buildings.



These were taken by hubby last year - the weather was a great improvement this year!
We saw beautiful views on the way back to our B and B




The Crop? Aah! You will have to take a look on Wednesday - but if you can't wait you can see some photos on Julia's, Helen's and Lunch Lady Jan's blogs!!

    I'm SO glad you showed the pre-crop photos, but you are SUCH a tease (grin). It's so nice to learn more about areas where you live and play. And the old buildings were such fun to enjoy. Of course the stained glass you captured was gorgeous, and I enjoyed each window. And I had NO idea you had windmills in England, but there is a working flour mill within about 100 miles of where I live. So many differences, yet some common ground. Expect more on Wed. (grin).

    I loved seeing these photos - you're right, it's such a pretty little village. Winchester looks fantastic too - I need to invite myself to LLJ's for a stay so she can show me around! xx

    You little tease Chris, I was waiting for just one peek at a crop piccie. But never mind I thoroughly enjoyed your day around Winchester and the village pictures.

    I did not want "Wolf Hall" to end.
    Wisteria, Bluebells and that Gunnera oh WOW and I see tiny daisies growing in the church yard too.
    There is something about thatched cottages that makes me swoon.

    It's funny to see local places that we take for granted on others blogs as places to visit! Your pics are fab, specially of the Cathedral and great hall. I KNOW how Saturday was. Thank you again for the beautiful notebook...I have made a start in it already!

    Julia has said what I wanted to say....sometimes it takes others people's photos to remind you of what a stunning place I live in!! I'm so goad you enjoyed Winchester, it is my favourite cathedral...I love all the modern sculptures in there. And guess what, my sone Rhys is hoping to go to Uni there!! Lots of visiting and shopping. I think :-)
