More photos! ….and a look back on the 2nd

We are away for a couple of days but I though you might like to see the rest of the photos from last weekend.

Bowes Castle - built for Henry II as a defence against the Scots - he also had a village built alongside it
Fabulous views - you would have seen the enemy miles away

It seemed quite a way down - hubby thought it funny to take snaps of me finding my way!
We passed this churchyard on the way back to the car
On to Eggelstone Abbey - built in the 12th century in quite an isolated spot at the time and sacked by Henry VIII - a lot of the stone was removed by locals for building.

Barnard Castle - quite a lot of this castle still standing - built by a noble man

A sensory garden has been added

Some shots of how our caravan garden is progressing - this is one of the chimney pots we found when we took the hedge back a few years ago

This border is what we thought was just a Hawthorn and Ivy hedge
Our new bench - for sunny days!!!
Have I been crafting? Well, I made a few quick cards…

…and two years ago I did this Journal page

You can see the post here

Thanks for looking, Chris

  2. These photos are fantastic. I always love traveling with you, because you find so many wonderful places to explore. Simply beautiful photos of the various castles, and how, even though they are in disrepair, they are well taken care of, like mowing, etc.

Thanks for sharing your look back page as well as your castles with us for the Second on the 2nd.

  3. I enjoyed the pictures of the castles in ruin. I was happy to see your art as well, it was new to me. That's the advantage of a 2nd look - great for those of us who weren't here the first time around.
