Hi everyone, this has been a day when I have done nothing much more than eat, drink and watch the coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla!
A lot of British businesses will have benefitted from the events of this weekend, hotels, food suppliers, small (and larger)retailers, and since the British grown flowers decorating Westminster Abbey are being broken down into smaller bouquets for hospices and care homes they also will benefit.
The route to the abbey involved people on foot, in carriages or on horseback so little pollution involved unlike military shows of strength of defence - this was a celebration and a darn good one!
Sorry - rant over someone got me riled!!
I haven't really come here to show you Coronation pics though.
I have a new page for Aimeslee's 'Flowers theme at Art Journal Journey.
I repeated a stencil pattern over my page then stamped the flowers. once onto the page and one onto plain paper. The stems were quite flexible so I bent them on my acrylic block before stamping.
I coloured the ones on white paper but decided that the stems were too fiddly so just coloured the stems on the page
The quote is a Paper Artsy, Alison Bomber quote.
The colours are a variation on bright red, white and blue.
Thanks for looking, Chriss
Hi Chris your art journal page is so pretty-I really like it.
ReplyDeleteI just saw part of the coronation this morning on public television-taped from yesterday I think. I look at it as history in the present. I personally do not like the queen but that's my opinion haha
happy weekend
Hugs Kathy
Love your art journal flower page Chris and your rant is my rant too ! love all the pomp and pageantry and as you say brings a lot of business to this country too. I'm getting pretty fed up of all the doom mongers in this country LOL

Best wishes to the new king
ReplyDeleteShame about the weather, but Yes it was an amazing day yesterday with more celebrations today with the big concert :) Your Art journal page is really lovely, would make a great card too. Gill x
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed watching the Coronation with a friend, we had a fun day. Lovely journal page, too. Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteLovely page of flowers for the coronation. Since I’m at the beach, I wasn’t able to watch the coronation on television. i did ask Himself to DVR is for me. I hope he remembers. It’s a bit of history. Enjoy the coronation weekend.
ReplyDeleteOhh You have created a Wonderful Art page Chris ! Love the flowers the colours and the pretty background. Sounds You have spent a lovely day today, and this night the concert. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteBig hugs, Caty
I got up at 5 AM to watch the coronation, and I enjoyed it. I think when you wait that long to become king, there should be some money spent. Even if the king didn't wait so long, it is a nation's big deal and celebration. Your flower page is just amazing, and the red pops off that pretty stenciled background. Happy new week Chris. hugs-ERika
ReplyDeleteI'll start with the journal page. It is lovely and the flowers are just fun to look at. Even the background is simply amazing. Nicely red, white, and blue. It's a great entry for Aimeslee's theme at AJJ.
ReplyDeleteI was up at 1:30 am because that is when PBS started showing it. Network and cable companies started at 5 am.
Lots of pomp and circumstance, but that is what we British are known for. OK, I'm only half British.
I was glad Charles honored the tradition started in 1066 (I wonder how many Americans know it went back that far), but modernized it. Apparently it is very different from the ceremony his mother had. I read many of his invitations didn't even allow for a plus one. In terms of money, yes, it was very expensive. However, as someone said to one of the commentators, it makes us proud to be British. I think he was buying a lot of hope and pride.
Like Kathy, I am not a fan of Camilla. I guess I can't get over my feelings about Diana.
A beautiful floral journal page Chris.
ReplyDeletelike you I've been watching a lot of TV this weekend and enjoyed every minute. Besides the actual Coronation there were some special parts that stood out for me, Prince William giving his oath to his father in the abbey and the speech he made at the concert last last night.
Yvonne xx
Glad you saw it on TV. these are great photos. Let's see what he does in the next few years.
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderfully designed page.
have a good day, hug Elke
Hi Chris! Thank you for sharing the wonderful photos from King Charles' coronation! We watched in here in the US, too! And I absolutely love your gorgeous art journal page. The pretty pink flowers look outstanding among your beautiful, stenciled background. And I really like the quote, too! Thank you!! Hugs, Sharon
ReplyDeleteI am with you on the Coronation - on the Royal family we have too - they do bring a lot of revenue to the country and a lot of good too.
ReplyDeleteI too just sat and watched, dozed and ate. Most of all Enjoyed!
Lovely page in your journal, what a pretty image that flower is and it works so well in that colour against your backdrop.

ReplyDeleteCame to see what other things of beauty you have and came across this page, OH! I DO agree about the Coronation, we were the only ones with flags up in our street, so sad. Loved it all. Lovely photos showing all the pomp and ceremony.
